Wow Me Wednesday: Video Games
Today, 12:15-12:45 pm
via Selwyn Zoom Room

Join us for today's Wow Me Wednesday which will focus on a favorite student past time: VIDEO GAMES! CMS and New Hanover High Schooler’s from the Carolina Fintech Hub YTAC program (Youth Technology Apprenticeship Camp) will put on a variety show using popular games like Minecraft and Rocket League to show how video games can not only build important skills like teamwork, leadership and communication… but also how STEM, coding and technology come together to make some of their favorite things possible. Selwyn students will get to see first-hand how they can learn to code their own video games, and parents will get a chance to see how esports can be a powerful force for personal development when structured properly.

Right after this week's Wow Me Wednesday session, students can sign up for the new Selwyn Esports Competition, where they will compete in Minecraft and Rocket League, and the champion teams from each grade will face off against each other in an epic tournament live streamed on Twitch where their family and friends can cheer them on.To sign up, please go to

Deadline for Square 1 Art

Important Reminder! The deadline for “Square 1 Art” artwork to be returned to school is Thursday, March 4!

For students that do not have art in person and wish to participate in Square 1 Art for this year, please have your student complete the final “Square 1 Art” white board (cardstock page), which was sent home. The label is at the top of the board. Please do not turn it any other way or use the back. Remind your student to draw big, add details and background, and color neatly with bright markers. Building Blocks Update

We’re in the homestretch of the Building Blocks campaign but we need your help! As of February 23, we have only 76 families (18%) donating a total of $23,222. Our goal is 100% participation. Every dollar really does count.

In addition to larger expenses such as playground equipment, fencing along Runnymeade, and the MakerSpace lab, Building Blocks dollars go toward everyday classroom needs. $5 acquires a book for a classroom library for one child, $100 purchases a document camera for a class, $500 buys a much needed classroom rug while $1,500 procures an annual Learning A-Z/Raz Kids subscription. All donations of $1,000 or more are designated Eagles Nest members for 2020-21.

Please consider making a donation today by clicking HERE.Thank you to those families who have already made a donation!
Join Our 2021-22 Selwyn PTA Board

We need your help! One of the things that makes Selwyn special is our strong parent volunteers. We are already planning for next year, when we hope to continue our traditions and celebrations to the greatest extent possible. Next year is going to be critical for our children and we need strong PTA volunteers.
Click HERE for a link to a list of Board positions. If you are interested in helping, please email Whitney Seeburg at and we will find a position for you. We can use everyone’s help! We are also in need of volunteers who have accounting, finance and web development skills.
Thanks for your commitment to Selwyn!
