Eagle Dads Volunteer Day

Calling all our awesome Selwyn Dads! On Monday, October 14 we will be holding our sixth annual Eagle Dads Volunteer Day . Dads can sign up to help with jobs like morning carpool, lunchroom monitor, campus clean-up, or even don the Selwyn Eagle costume.
Dads are also encouraged to help a special area teacher that day - check your child's class calendar for open opportunities. Have fun while making this annual Selwyn tradition one for the record books. Refreshments will be served in the parent room.
Contact Michele Mangan with any questions or to reserve your spot.
Prospecitve Parents Open House

Selwyn’s Prospective Parents Open House is on Thursday, October 17 at 9:30 am . Please help us spread the word by sharing the attached invitation with your neighbors and friends.
Open House is designed to help inform parents of rising kindergartners about our amazing school! Parents will learn about our curriculum, take a tour of the school, and meet other parents whose children will also be attending Selwyn.
To help make this event a success, we are looking for volunteers to greet and check in prospective parents. If you are interested, please sign up here.
Friday Night Lights

Join us as we tailgate Selwyn style before the Myers Park homecoming game Friday,
October 18 from 5:00-7:00 pm . Look for event, pizza and football ticket pre-order details
and raffle information in your youngest child's backpack this week. Or click the following
links to pre-order pizza and football tickets online and access and print the Blind Auction
and Raffle lists/tickets. Please note the Jet’s pizzas are 14” and $12/each. All pizza
orders, pre-order football tickets and Blind Auction and Raffle tickets are due Monday, October 14.

It takes a lot of volunteers to make this fun event a success. Please consider volunteering and sign up here .

Help Raise Money for Selwyn, It's Easy!

RELINK your Harris Teeter VIC card to Selwyn Elementary (#1736) . We earn money for every Harris Teeter brand purchased. You may link at the customer service register or online.
Mobile App - No more clipping, just scan your receipt! Box Tops now has a mobile app to fit today’s families. You may now download the app, find our school to link and scan your receipt to instantly add Box Tops to our school earnings online. If you see the label to the left, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt.
Box Top clippings are still accepted (clipped-box-tops). Traditional Box Tops clippings are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. Find box tops on items such as Kleenex, General Mills cereals, Ziploc, Finish, Reynolds and Scott. You can still clip and send them to school. Those 10 cent box tops add up!
We will be holding a Box Top Clippings Drive from October 14-18 . The grade level that brings in the most Box Tops dollars will win a doughnut party during lunch time. The winning grade will be announced Tuesday, October 29 and doughnuts will be distributed that Friday ! Slotted boxes will be placed on the table in the rotunda. Bring them into class in Ziploc bags and have a designated person in class deposit the clippings into the slotted boxes by grade level.

Impending Parking Restrictions

Please be advised that parking restrictions will be implemented by the Charlotte Department of Transportation and enforced via ticketing by the Charlotte Police Department. These restrictions may impact student drivers and parents parking temporarily.
The streets shown in this image (Sagamore Road and Henshaw Road) will be restricted for parking on both sides as shown by the red lines. The No Parking signs will prohibit parking from 7:00 - 9:00 am and should be installed before Friday, October 11.
This will impact Selwyn Elementary School and Alexander Graham Middle School parents that park on Sagamore Road near Barclay Downs Drive and walk over to these schools.

Health and Wellness Tip

Are you in search of healthy after school snack ideas? Try a grazing tray! It's easy- simply take an empty muffin tin, fill it with healthy snacks, and leave it on the counter for your child to enjoy after school. Some ideas are: apples & nut or sun butter, almonds, veggies & favorite dip (like hummus or guacamole), fruit, popcorn, cheese, and trail mix. They will love the variety!
