Alumni prepare meals at St. Lawrence Haven
|
The Alumni Department provides service at St. Lawrence Haven on the second Wednesday of each month. We prepare and package meals for the daily lunch line. We normally volunteer from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
St. Lawrence Haven is the St. Vincent de Paul-run sack lunch program. The Haven sits behind Holy Family Church at the corner of Rich and Main streets downtown. Approximately 300-500 meals are served each day. The staff at St. Lawrence Haven is very appreciative of the assistance we provide and we are very thankful for the alumni and friends who have taken time out of their busy schedules to help with this service endeavor.
If you are interested in helping on June 8, or at a future time, please email Terri Kernan at
tkernan@cdeducation.org. We would love to have you join us!

This year's H20 Challenge brought in $2,520 dollars which were donated to the Passion Center Orphanage in Malawi, Africa. Left to right -- Jack Jeffries, theology teacher and H20 Challenge coordinator David Klemm, Leah Paskell and Betty Cleary.
A family of four children were "adopted" due to the efforts of the H20 Challenge. A group, including several BWHS alumni, will travel to Malawi, Africa in July to spend two weeks working with the Passion Center Orphanage.
"We will pray with them, give them inspiration and assure them that there are more than 1,000 concerned and caring folks here that will be keeping them in our thoughts and prayers as they struggle to survive and get an education," said George Cleary '84. "During our visit we will go to the remote area where the family lives and get to know them. We hope to take provisions and possibly repair their home where needed."
