Chapel Opens After Renovation and Expansion

Bishop Fernandes visited last week to celebrate the first Mass in our renovated and expanded chapel after seven months of construction work. Bishop Watterson's chapel sits in the center of the school, the heart of our school community.

Serving at the Mass were seminarians and alumni Deacon Sam Severance '14 and Sam Mahle '24.

In addition to our monthly service to St. Lawrence Haven, our Bishop Watterson community stepped up to help St. Lawrence Haven this Christmas season in a big way. Members of our staff, alumni group, students, and past and current parents assisted in setting up and running the Christmas store during the weeks leading up to Christmas. We are thankful to all who donated their time, talent, and treasure to help those in need.

Our Alumni Department provides monthly service to St. Lawrence Haven, the sack lunch program run by St. Vincent DePaul. Volunteers meet at St. Lawrence Haven, 244 E. Rich Street in downtown Columbus, on the third WEDNESDAY of every month from 9:30 a.m. until noon to prepare and package meals.

In addition, we deliver much-needed sandwiches, fruit, drinks, chips, and treats for the patrons of St. Lawrence Haven.

We are grateful for our "Sammie Theater" group who provides hundreds of sandwiches each month for our friends at St. Lawrence Haven.

The need continues to be great and we are always looking for volunteers to join our team. If you would like to get involved, please email Terri Kernan at tkernan@cdeducation.org.

Classmates from the Class of 1963 gathered for breakfast in December to celebrate the Christmas season.

The Class of 2004 gathered to celebrate their 20th reunion on Friday, November 29th at Echo Spirits. More than 75 classmates were in attendance, along with many guests. Thank you to Lizzy Mazer for organizing the event!

Jane Jacquemin-Clark '68 was selected as the winner of the 2024 Everyday Kindness Heroes of Central Ohio sponsored by the Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Monthly. She was one of five nominated for this amazing recognition and was presented with the award on December 5. Congratulations Jane, we at Bishop Watterson are all very proud of the work that you do with Hope Hollow.

Football Team Wins State Championship

In a rematch from last year’s Division III State Championship game, the Eagles came out on top this year, defeating Central Catholic of Toledo 19-14. Through the regular season and playoffs BWHS went undefeated at 16-0 and outscored opponents 639-111.

Class of 2025 Friendsgiving

A recent tradition for our senior classes has been Friendsgiving on the Friday before Thanksgiving. With the support of volunteer parents and our Mothers' Club the seniors enjoyed a meal together to celebrate their class, their school and their friendships.

Season of Giving

Our students and staff came through for a couple of charitable organizations during our annual Season of Giving!

The food drive brought in 8,500 non-perishable food items for the St. Francis Center in Mcarthur, Ohio, while the toy drive resulted in $4,563 for Student Council to spend on items for the St. Lawrence Haven Christmas store.
