March 31, 2021
Dear Alumni and Friends,

One year ago, in March 2020, it was Lent and schools had just closed. Here we are a year later, in Lent again, and in a different phase of the pandemic. In a sense, the entire past year has felt like one very long Lent. But this year we are in school and instead of feeling concerned about the unknowns of the impending pandemic, we are hopeful that the end is in sight.

We are grateful to have in-person learning for our students at Bishop Watterson this year and we are also thankful to everyone who contributed to our Annual Eagle Fund. The need for tuition assistance was heightened because of the pandemic and your generosity enabled us to help more families afford to send their children to our school. As we are not holding our annual Gala this year, which also supports tuition assistance, we have launched a Family Scholarship Program. See below for more information on how to participate.

All of us at Bishop Watterson wish you a happy Easter full of hope, peace, and confidence in the love of Christ.

Respectfully,
Deacon Chris Campbell
Principal
The Bishop Watterson Family Scholarship
Bishop Watterson is happy to announce the Bishop Watterson Family Scholarship. This scholarship replaces the 2021 Eagle Gala, until we can safely gather again. We are asking families to join together to help other BWHS families who need tuition assistance, a greater need during the pandemic.

Donations start with a minimum donation of $500. For your donation, your family name will be displayed on a scholarship wall. If your family would like to participate, click on the button below or mail a check written to Bishop Watterson Family Scholarship, 99 East Cooke Road, Columbus, OH 43214.

We will be recognizing donor families during a social media campaign later this month. If you donate to the scholarship and would like to be a part of the social media campaign, email a family photo to Rebecca Price, rprice@cdeducation.org.

Donations can also be made in memory of a loved one or in honor of a graduate.
Annual Eagle Fund

As you pray and reflect on your walk with God during this Lenten season, consider helping others who are financially struggling. We have seen an increase in families needing tuition assistance and we are asking you to prayerfully consider a gift to our Annual Eagle Fund. As a community, we can help to bear the cross of tuition together and help students receive the gift of a Catholic Education.
Any gift regardless of size can make a difference.

In Service to Others
Prior to the pandemic, our Alumni Department provided service at St. Lawrence Haven, the sack lunch program run by St. Vincent DePaul, once a month. In lieu of our volunteers going to St. Lawrence Haven during the pandemic, they have been providing sandwiches, fruit, drinks, and treats for the patrons of St. Lawrence Haven twice per month over the past year.

Our bi-monthly delivery to St. Lawrence Haven during the pandemic has been overwhelming, thanks to the amazing support and generosity of our group. We have contributed over 15,000 sandwiches as well as a tremendous supply of fresh fruit, baked goods, cases of water and other drinks, chips, and treats.
This week we delivered 500 candy-filled eggs in addition to our usual food supply.

The need continues to be great and we will continue to provide to St. Lawrence Haven in this manner.

If you would like to participate in this service endeavor, please email Terri Kernan at tkernan@cdeducation.org.

Kairos Retreats Move Forward

We have been able to hold two Kairos Retreats (K15, K16) so far this year with one more scheduled for April, all at The Retreat House in Maria Stein, Ohio. Although masked, socially distant and with individual sleeping rooms, the seniors have embraced the opportunity to step away from school and connect with classmates, something that has been more challenging for all students during the pandemic.
Spring Musical: Pippin!

We have two options for viewing our Spring musical this year! On April 16 we are offering a viewing at the South Drive-In Theatre and on April 17 and 18 you can watch online from the comfort of your home. Links to purchase tickets for these options can be found below.
