Celebrating the ordination of Sam Severance '14 to the diaconate in March were Deacon Jeffrey Fortkamp '88, retired faculty & chaplain Deacon Frank Iannarino, Deacon Tyler Carter '15 (scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood in May), Severance, and Deacon Chris Campbell '77. Severance is scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood in 2025.

Our Alumni Department provides monthly service to St. Lawrence Haven, the sack lunch program run by St. Vincent DePaul. Volunteers meet at St. Lawrence Haven, 244 E. Rich Street in downtown Columbus on the third WEDNESDAY of every month from 9:30 a.m. to noon to prepare and package meals.

In addition, we deliver much-needed sandwiches, fruit, drinks, chips, and treats for the patrons of St. Lawrence Haven.

The need continues to be great and we are always looking for volunteers to join our team. If you would like to become involved, please email Terri Kernan at tkernan@cdeducation.org.

Chapel Under Construction

Our chapel has been emptied and expansion is underway! Construction work, which will increase square footage from 1,100 to 2,500 and seating from 51 to 160, began over spring break. We hope to be utilizing our new chapel space early next fall. If you would like to contribute to this project, contact Tyler Johnston, tjohnston@bwhs.org.

Our art, sports, theatre, and wood shop camp schedules are out for this summer!

Sports include baseball, boys basketball, girls basketball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, girls soccer, softball, track & field, boys volleyball and girls volleyball.

Wrestling

Our boys wrestling team had another excellent season this year!

Freshman Michael Boyle (St. Brendan) is State Champion in the 165 weight class, while sophomore James Lindsay (Our Lady of Peace) finished second at 138 and junior Neal Krysty (Olentangy Liberty) took 3rd at 120. Junior Mitchell Younger (Olentangy Hyatts Middle School) took 4th at 150 and sophomore Joe Curry (Our Lady of Peace) was 5th at 126.

At the District Championships Bishop Watterson finished second, with Boyle, Lindsay, Krysty and Younger all finishing 1st.

Other wrestlers who qualified for states were Greyson Conyers (113/Immaculate Conception) and Luke Hangen (144/Immaculate Conception).

Erin Scully (Dublin Coffman) finished 3rd at Districts for our girls wrestling team, representing BWHS at states as well.

Basketball

The girls basketball team finished the season as Regional Runner-Up, losing to Pickerington Central 43-30 in the championship game on March 8.

The boys finished as District Runner-Up, falling to Jonathan Alder 54-44 in the District final.
