Songwriter of BWHS Alma Mater Inducted into Homecoming Hall of Fame

Patricia Huhn '61 Niekamp, who wrote our beloved Alma Mater, was inducted into our Homecoming Hall of Fame at an assembly on Friday, September 23. Patricia was only a freshman at BWHS when she wrote the cherished lyrics to our alma mater. She was also honored at half-time of the football game that evening when t he Eagles defeated Cleveland Benedictine 10-7.

Let us praise our Alma Mater
Proudly we behold,
Sing and honor her forever
Garb'd in red and gold.
We her loyal sons and daughters
'Round her colors come.
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Hail to Watterson!

From her standards we have gathered
Faith and courage strong;
Pressing on to greater ages
Holding to one throng.
Through her halls our echoes raising
Bursting forth in song -
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Hail to Watterson!

Alumni prepare meals at St. Lawrence Haven
The Alumni Department provides service at St. Lawrence Haven on the second Wednesday of each month, preparing and packaging meals for the daily lunch line.  We normally volunteer from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
St. Lawrence Haven is the St. Vincent de Paul-run sack lunch program. The Haven sits behind Holy Cross Church at the corner of Rich and Main streets downtown. Approximately 300-500 meals are served each day. The staff at St. Lawrence Haven is very appreciative of the assistance we provide and we are very thankful for the alumni and friends who have taken time out of their busy schedules to help with this service endeavor!
If you are interested in helping on October 13, or at a future time, please email Terri Kernan at We would love to have you join us!
