WE LOOK GOOD
FOR 70...
LET'S PARTY!

Can you believe we are celebrating our 70th school year at Grace? We are going to kick off the celebration at the Fall Family Social, Friday, September 27th, from 5-7 PM, on the preschool side of campus, with free cake and ice cream for all! (You can also pre-order dinner from Jason's Deli.) We'd love to see you and your family there.
CARING FOR OUR NATION'S FLAG...
A VISIT FROM THE PROS

The Honor Support Team from NAS Jax visited Grace on Monday for Flag. They also spent time with our 5th and 6th grade students sharing the proper procedures for raising, lowering, folding and caring for our country's flag. Our students were mesmerized, to say the least.
FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT
IN ACTON AT GRACE
EDUCATING THE WHOLE CHILD

Grace Episcopal Day School is a Christian based, family-oriented educational community dedicated to maximizing each student's potential. As part of living out our mission, we are intentional in providing ways for our students to grow in faith and service to others. In addition to the Wednesday chapel service and weekly Christian Education classes, students are encouraged to live out the Fruits of the Spirit. "The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control." Galatians 5:22-23

Grace uses a program, developed by Cathy Hardage, a former FCIS Head
of School here in Jacksonville, and grandmother to Miles Hoffman (1st) and Charlie Hoffman (PK 4). Mrs. Hardage developed this character education program in 2002 after receiving the Hooker Grant from the Florida Council of Independent Schools. Grace has used this program to recognize and encourage students over the last five years. Each month students study a specific fruit (spiritual attribute) and they are recognized by their classroom teacher in chapel. At the end of the school year peers will have an opportunity to celebrate these qualities in their classmates.

If you supplied grandparent contact information on your child's enrollment form, an invitation will be mailed early next week. Artists of the Week | Amazing Talents
Congratulations to our new Artists of the Week from Mrs. Hines' fourth grade class, Reilly and Evie. They each used a crayon resist technique and watercolor paint to create a beautiful picture of a painted elephant. One of the elephants is even wearing a gold Rolex watch!
Congratulations to our new Preschool Artists of the Week from Mrs. Rahn's Class, Henry and Rachel. They each used oil pastels to draw these cool cats! Your cats are gorgeous and vibrant and your choice of color is spot on.
Alumni Corner | Where are they now?
Have you seen the new garden beds in front of the third and fourth grade cottage? What about the new archway at the entrance to the garden? Those were built by Grace alumni, Ethan Lastinger, for his Eagle Scout project. Ethan worked with volunteer and former teacher Mrs. Trice, to design and create the raised beds for the fourth grade gardening group. Nice work Ethan! We're so proud of you!
