"Therefore encourage one another and build each other
up, just as in fact you are doing."
--1 Thessalonians 5:11, ILS theme verse for the 2018 2019 school year

Sick Season Reminders
Be sure to review our policies regarding health and wellness on pages 10 and 11 of Immanuel’s Student and Family Handbook .  Of special note is our policy that a child must stay home until her or she is fever and/or vomit free for 24 hours; students should also stay home if they have a persistent cough, diarrhea, a contagious rash, an eye infection, or any communicable disease until examined by a physician and determined to not be communicable or until after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment. Those who are absent for three consecutive days must have a doctor's note to return to school.

With cold and flu season upon us, these recommendations from the CDC are important to follow:
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
  • Wash your hands often to protect yourself from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

If you've ever experienced doubts, temptations, losses, family problems, or personal inconsistencies, this study is for you!

The Large Catechism ,  Men’s Bible Study, Sat. at 8 AM, Fellowship Hall/Panera beginning Jan. 5, 2019.
The Large Catechism consists of works written by Martin Luther and compiled
Christian canonical texts and is divided into five parts:  The Ten Commandments ,
The Apostles' Creed The Lord's Prayer Holy Baptism , and  The Sacrament of the Eucharist . The Catechism, along with related documents, was published in the  Book of Concord   in 1580. The Large Catechism typifies the emphasis the churches of the  Augsburg Confession  placed on the importance of knowledge and understanding of the articles of the Christian faith. Primarily intended as instruction to teachers, especially to parents, the Catechism consists of a series of exhortations on the importance of each topic of the Catechism . It is meant for those who have the capacity to understand, and is not meant to be memorized but to be repeatedly reviewed so that The Small Catechism could be taught with understanding.
