Retirement Announced
It is with warm wishes and prayers for God's blessings upon Manny Gutwein that we announce his upcoming retirement at the end of the current school year.

Manny joined Immanuel Lutheran School as seventh grade teacher in 2008 and has 39 years teaching experie nce and teaches middle school science and religion classes. When not involved at school, he can be found model railroading, woodworking, and driving a charter bus. He has been instrumental in planning class trips to St. Louis, Springfield, and Washington DC. Manny has said that his "years at Immanuel include some memorable occasions in the scie nce lab...
dissecting a cow heart, science fairs, bowling for momentum, food labs, and ScienceWorld games. Most importantly, I treasure the time I spend with middle school students working together studying God's word, seeing His plan throughout history, and recognizing how the Holy Spirit helps us live that plan today and in the future."

Mr. Gutwein will be dearly missed, yet Immanuel is happy for him as he looks forward to enjoying a new time in his life. A Call Committee has been formed as plans develop for staffing need. More information will be forthcoming as to how Immanuel will celebrate his many years of service in ministry.

Garage Sale News
JUL. 19-21
Are you getting ready for the Batavia City Wide Garage Sale next weekend...or spring cleaning amidst the snow? Please remember to save your treasures or leftovers for the annual Immanuel Garage Sale Jul. 19-21. Items will be accepted for the sale beginning Fri., Jun. 22 later in the afternoon, after Vacation Bible School volunteers have had a chance to clean up from that huge ministry event.

Please remember that we cannot accept any televisions, cribs, mattresses, computers, paints, or chemicals. Also, if the item is broken, badly stained, or not wearable, please do not donate it.

New features this year include the chance to earn early shopping privileges by volunteering at least eight hours before, during, or after the sale. It takes a village to put on a sale of this size--please consider how you can help!

Immanuel holds this sale every year for many reasons, but a huge reason is that it is such a great resource for so many in our community.

To volunteer or to learn more, contact Cindy Rueffer at 312 550 3199 or r [email protected] .

Non-Public School Scholarship Applications
Empower Illinois is excited to announce that scholarship award emails have begun going out and will continue to be sent each week on Mondays.

The demand for these scholarships has been made abundantly clear. Empower Illinois received 48,000 applications for scholarships from children in every part of the state. While they recognize that they have more applicants than dollars, they continue to fundraise and advocate for this program. This incredible demand represents an opportunity to further grow the program, but only with the support of Illinois legislators. Let your local lawmakers know this program is important to you.

Please visit empowerillinois.org for complete information for students and donors.
ILS K-8 Tuition Assistance
Due to overwhelming number of application received by Empower Illinois, Immanuel encourages ILS families to apply for financial aid
if you think your family will need it.
The deadline for Smart Aid applications is has been extended to Tue., May 15.

If a family does not qualify for a tax credit scholarship through Empower Illinois, they may then apply for tuition assistance from Immanuel through Smart Aid. The cost of the application, which is completed online, is $35 per family. Further details about the application process are included in this flyer .
