FREE Basketball Camps in August
Mon.-Tue., Aug. 6-7, 8-12 PM, B/G entering K-G4
Pr. Chris Davis and school parent Troy Groetken are leading a FREE Fundamentals of Basketball Camp that will focus on the basic ball handling skills of passing, dribbling, and shooting. Participants should dress in comfortable sportswear, bring a water bottle and a mid-morning snack. A couple of adult volunteers are needed. Staffing Update
With the calls extended by Immanuel and accepted by Christine Dail (G1) and Beth Bierlein (middle school), as well as the new hires of Bobbi Norkus (PS4.4) and Marsha Majewski (G4), and the hiring of Grace Politowicz as part-time music teacher, the staffing plan for the 2018-2019 school year is outlined below. Specific information about the new staff members follows this section. We are seeking applicants for a PM Aide in Kindergarten. In addition, the Call Committee for Immanuel's new Director of Youth Ministries continues to make arrangements for on-site interviews with a few of the candidates. A new youth director is being sought to replace Kari Larsen, who transitioned to Director of Family Ministries at Immanuel.

Saluting Our Hero

Join your Immanuel family as we salute Immanuel’s Own Hero, SPC Christopher Patterson. The Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation Motorcycle Ride passes our campus as part of their route. Join us on the lawn by 11:15 AM, bring some ice water, a lawn chair, and help us salute our hero and support his family and friends.
 
Chris, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a 2009 graduate of West Aurora High School, gave his life in service to our country while serving with the Indiana National Guard in Afghanistan on Jan. 6, 2012.
 
Chris loved the performing arts. He was an actor, singer, and musician who performed with various groups. The Chris Patterson Memorial Foundation will split proceeds from the ride between the Freedom Farm for Vets in Wadsworth and the Performing Arts at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School . Let’s show our appreciation for Christopher’s sacrifice and for his family’s generosity.

Drop Off Procedures
Morning care begins Thu., Aug. 16 and is offered beginning at 7 AM each day school is in session at $.11/minute. Families with middle school students will not be charged after 7:45 AM due the the middle school’s earlier start to the school day. All other families will not be charged after 8 AM. School start times are as follows:
G6-8

Hot Lunch
Immanuel's hot lunch provider is Bulldogs/North Island Catering in Batavia. The menu has been standardized this year based on previous years' ordering history. The same items will be offered each Monday (breakfast), Wednesday (chicken tenders), and Friday (pizza); and a bag lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Use parent codes and follow the steps outlined here to order for your student(s). 

The August menu is now online. Hot lunch will begin on Thu., Aug. 16. A total is not automatically provided when ordering.  Please manually total the amount due for your students and submit cash or check payable to Immanuel Lutheran with "hot lunch" in the memo line.

Band for Today
Immanuel is partnering with a new band company, Band for Today. This is the same company that provides the band program at Holy Cross Catholic School in Batavia. Band will continue to be available to students in in Grade 4 through 8 and all lessons for our students will take place at Immanuel. A new option available through Band for Today is keyboard instruction for students K-G3. More information will be forthcoming. In the meantime, parents can learn more by watching this video and at bandfortoday.com .
