Sing & Play Returns Wed., Sep. 5
Wednesdays When School is in Session 11-11:45 AM in the gym
Sing and Play is a parent-toddler class designed specifically for young learners, 18 months and older. During the class, children can sit comfortably on mom or dad's lap, and gently ease into a class setting. Through familiar, action based songs, short teacher-led stories, and object lessons, visual stimulation, and group participation, children begin the process of learning how to behave in a group setting and how to interact with children next to them. They grow in their ability to listen and attend and practice following directions and making predictions. Sing and Play sessions begin with a small group circle time and then move into large motor free play time utilizing gym equipment. Sing and Play is a free class that requires no registration or commitment. Come and play each week or whenever is convenient. Siblings are always welcome!
Fall Cleaning?
Please keep an eye out for items (blazers, hats, etc.) that four-year-old preschoolers might enjoy using during dramatic play/dress up time. Donations can be brought to the school office and would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Looking for Ways to be Involved?
Our Tuesday Lunchroom Helpers supervise children during the lunch hour, allowing ILS teachers to have a break once a week. The teachers really appreciate and look forward to this time! Responsibilities include opening Go-Gurt, allowing children to get a drink or use the facilities (one at a time, of course), and keeping bottoms in chairs while eating. The kids know the general rules for lunchtime, so it’s a great time to spend time with them and their peers. You can volunteer as many or as few times as your schedule allows. Sign up here.
Thank You, Volunteers
The Immanuel community came together in a HUGE way this past summer to update the ILCS play area. Church members, parents, teachers, and staff worked to remove 7 tons of crushed rubber, which was then replaced with a poured in place rubber. This major improvement was provided by funds from the Parent-Teacher League through your participation in the 2017 bi-annual Auction Gala. Next up: painting more game areas, such as life-size checkerboard (using Frisbees as checkers) and Chutes and Ladders games. Thank you, so much, to everyone who helped in this effort for all of our children!
S'more About Jesus (& Immanuel)
Sat., Sep. 8, 3-5 PM, Red Barn Park (South Mill Creek Park)
The community is invited to get to know S’more About Jesus (and Immanuel) and enjoy a fun filled afternoon that includes bounce houses, a slime table sponsored by Community Therapy Services, music, games, children’s message, and snacks. The planning committee requests the following donations: Golden Grahams Cereal, mini marshmallows, 1-pound bags of M&Ms (for s’mores trail treat bags), and cases of water. These can be placed in the basked outside the church lobby. Come join the fun, volunteer at the event, and/or help by donating an item listed above. Questions? Contact Megan with Mill Creek Event in the subject line.
GriefShare Sessions Begin
Begins Mon., Sep. 10, 6:30 PM in the Immanuel Library
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to their daily life routines. Too often people, including Christians, tend to stuff their grief instead of allowing it to do the God-given work for which it is intended. Don’t allow fear of what others may think to keep you from what could help you. Confidentiality is very much a part of this program. Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future.
