Christmas and New Year's at Immanuel
Sick Season Reminders
Be sure to review our policies regarding health and wellness on pages 10 and 11 of Immanuel’s Student and Family Handbook . Of special note is our policy that a child must stay home until her or she is fever and/or vomit free for 24 hours; students should also stay home if they have a persistent cough, diarrhea, a contagious rash, an eye infection, or any communicable disease until examined by a physician and determined to not be communicable or until after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment. Those who are absent for three consecutive days must have a doctor's note to return to school.

With cold and flu season upon us, these recommendations from the CDC are important to follow:
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
  • Wash your hands often to protect yourself from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
Book Orders Arrive After Christmas
Scholastic book orders for December will not arrive in time for Christmas. We place them on the second Tuesday of each month, Dec. 13, so they will probably arrive during Christmas break.

Please contact the school office .
Ringing and Singing
ILS Students rang bells and sang Christmas songs at the Red Kettle at Woodman’s in North Aurora on Dec. 1 from 9-3 PM. Every hour a new group of middle schoolers and teachers were there to help the Salvation Army help those in need. The average amount a kettle takes in is about $30/hour—on the day ILS was there, the it took in more than $860 in ten hours! “It was so full at the end of our time that it was hard to put money in!” said Mrs. Laughlin. Thanks to all who donated and thanks to our ILS students and teachers for spending their day helping others in need.
