  • The beginner orchestra gave our preschoolers a little concert this week. Immanuel will be hosting an orchestra festival this Saturday morning.
  • Tickets are still available for Immanuel's production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, Jr.--either online at ilsbatavia.seatyourself.biz, at the school office, and at the door prior to performances.
Willy Wonka, Jr. starts Friday!
by Jeannie Anderson

In anticipation of Immanual Lutheran School’s third annual spring musical, Rogers Brackmann, 88, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church who currently lives at the Holmstead in Batavia, contacted the church to share his special connection to Roald Dahl, the author of both the book and screenplay Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , and Mr. Wonka himself, Gene Wilder. Brackmann, it turns out, was involved in the production of original motion picture Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory , directed by Mel Stuart in 1971.

Willy Wonka, Jr. will be presented at Immanual and will run Mar. 8, 9, and 10. Tickets for the performance are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and kids under 5 years of age are free. The performances are at 6:30 PM on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday the performance is at 2:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at ilsbatavia.seatyourself.biz.

ILS students, Grades 5-8, have been gearing up for the Junior High Math Competition held annually at the Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora. They have been preparing for this competition by meeting each week after school to hone their skills for questions like:

What is the value of (798 2 - 543 2 ) + (122 2 - 25)?

This question was posted as a sample on the IMSA website and was taken from the seventh grade individual competition in 2014. They will be competing March 13th. We pray God’s richest blessings on their efforts!
