Principal's Corner
By Donna Laughlin, Principal of Immanuel Lutheran School

There is always a lot of important information in Eagle Info. This week I want to highlight that Walkathon packets will be going home today (some preschoolers will get next week), and there is information about a new Box Tops app for you smartphone. I encourage everyone to read through to the end of each week's newsletter.

Overall, the school year is off to a great start. One of my greatest joys so far is the many new faces we have. Praise God!

In addition to our new orchestra director Stephanie Kleven, and our new admissions director Rebecca Bello, we have a new band director and piano instructor, Sean Sykes. The first day of band will be September 23rd and will be every Monday throughout the year. Classes will be held from 10:30am-12pm in three 30-minute blocks. Parents can still register at bandfortoday.com, and any questions can be emailed to Mr. Sykes at sykes@bandfortoday.com .

We also have 57 new students in preschool through eighth grade. Our middle school has five new students, and we have fifteen new students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Five of those fifteen are in Kindergarten, and five are in third grade—which grew by 150 percent. Our preschool fours classes have a total of eleven children who did not attend Immanuel as three-year-olds and we have twenty-six three year-olds, all of whom are new to our school.

We pray for God's blessings on all of our school children that they will grow in wisdom, stature, and faith as they attend Immanuel this year.
Spirit Wear
Congrats to Grades 1 and 4--the first Spirit Day Winners for 2019-2020! And thank you to our PTL who will be providing treats to the winning class(es) again this year. The class with the highest percentage of students in spirit wear or wearing blue and white each Spirit Day earns a sweet treat from our PTL.  Our next Spirit Day is Mon., Oct. 7 .

Order your Immanuel Spirit Wear today at stores.inksoft.com/ilbspirit/shop/home . From T-shirts to jackets to polos to sweatshirts to blankets and hats…there’s something for everyone! Be sure to check out the new items that have been added this year!

Orders are due Fri., Sep. 20. Once orders are placed, they will be delivered to the school and sent home with your student(s). If items have been ordered as gifts, please add this information in the notes area of the order and those items will be held in the school office for parent pickup.
September Chapel Offerings
Our Chapel offerings for the month of September will go to Walcamp Outdoor Ministries, a Lutheran camp in Kingston, Illinois. We are also collecting the following items for Walcamp during the month of September: paper plates, paper towels, one-gallon freezer bags, 9 volt batteries, and plastic cutlery. There will be a labeled bin in the school entry way where the items can be placed. To learn more about Walcamp, visit walcamp.org .
New at Immanuel!
Family Voices
“If only parenting came with step-by-step instructions. We have so many roles as parents and most of them don’t come with directions. It’s like building Ikea furniture.” Is this how you
feel about parenting sometimes? Check out Immanuel’s new blog, Family Voices, at
Parenting Classes Begin Sep. 26
Thu., Sep. 26 and Oct. 3, 8:45-10:30 AM
Make plans to attend the new parenting classes on Sep. 26 and Oct. 3. Our first topic this year is “ Faith At Home .” Classes will share ideas and provide opportunities to practice sharing the faith with your children. Hope to see you there!
Second Sat. Prayer Gathering
Sat., Sep. 14, 9:30-10:30 AM, in the chapel
From the beginning, Christians have gathered to pray together ( Acts 4:24 12:5 21:5 ). Prayer
meetings are valuable for our church and for those who participate. We know prayer works because we have a God who declares, “Talk to me and I’ll listen.” Through our prayers, especially with one another, we are demonstrating and validating our shared faith. Please come to this gathering, participate in communal prayer, and develop a growing intimacy with God.
