New Student Applications
Dear STM families,
I am writing to request your assistance. Good people know good people! We have so many amazing families at STM, and I encourage you to invite other great families to come join our community.
If you know anyone exploring school options (friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, etc.), please make them aware that we offer personal tours so a family can choose a day and time that works best for them to visit campus. They can simply call or email our Admissions Director, Tootie Lee, in the school office.
I am confident that if a family visits the STM campus, they will experience the wonderful community and incredible education that we provide. Visitors will encounter the tremendous joy and faith that permeate every aspect of our school. Please encourage others to come visit STM!
The new student application is now available on the school website, and we are excited to welcome new students in PreK3 through 8th Grade for the 2020-2021 school year.
Thank you for your efforts to promote St. Thomas More Catholic School. We greatly appreciate your partnership in this great mission of Catholic education!
In Christ,
Mr. Moscona

Mother Seton Nomination
It’s time to submit nominations for the Mother Seton Award. Each year the Diocese of Baton Rouge recognizes one volunteer from each Catholic school in the diocese as a volunteer deserving of the Mother Seton Award.
The Mother Seton Award was created to honor those individuals whose volunteer service and dedication to home, school, and church have been exemplary. Each year, St Thomas More Catholic School, in coordination with the efforts of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, seeks to recognize a deserving candidate from our school family to be the recipient of the Mother Seton Award. The Diocese recognizes parent volunteers from schools throughout the Diocese every year with this incredible award. If you know someone who fits this description and you would like to see him or her honored for their commitment to St Thomas More church and school, please send nominations to the Home & School Association at
stmhands@gmail.com
. The deadline for accepting nominates is February 7, 2020.
The criteria set by the Diocesan Home and School Association:
- The person nominated may be a man or woman and must be a parent, grandparent or guardian.
- Be recognized as a volunteer, not an employee of the local school.
- At least three years involvement within the local Home and School organization.
- Dependable, hard working, self-sacrificing, attuned to the needs of the children and the school.
- Enthusiastic, generous, supportive of the educators and the administration.
- Concerned and ready to go the extra mile for Catholic education.
- A model of living Gospel values.

St. Thomas More's Birthday - February 7
St. Thomas More was born in 1478 in England. He was one of six children. Later in life, he considered entering the monastery, but instead became a lawyer and a member of Parliament. With a reputation for honesty, he rose in power and prominence in his career and King Henry VIII appointed him Lord Chancellor. When King Henry VIII began a conflict with the Church, St. Thomas More refused to support him. St. Thomas More remained loyal to the Church even though it would eventually cost him his life.
St. Thomas More is one of the Church’s married lay saints. He is the patron saint of adopted children and lawyers. Many people pray to him for help with their families, if they want to become a lawyer, or if they are in need of a lawyer. Let us go forward following the example of St. Thomas More, living with virtue and courage each day.

St. Thomas More Catholic School 60th Anniversary Celebration
St. Thomas More Catholic Elementary School was founded in 1960; therefore, in 2020, we will mark the school’s 60th anniversary. We would like to schedule a celebration to recognize this significant milestone, and we are seeking assistance in planning an appropriate way to do so.
If you are interested in serving on a committee to determine the type of event we should have, when it could be scheduled, and how to best contact former students, parents, faculty and staff members and other friends of STM School, please send an email to Dr. Greg Brandao (greg@stmchurch.org).
We want to make a special effort to reach out to our “founders,” those men and women who were associated with the school in 1960, and to all of the people who have followed in their footsteps.
We are looking forward to this celebration! Thanks for your consideration of this request!
