Dear STM parents,
Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this unprecedented situation. Below are a few important pieces of information relevant to all families.
The Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Baton Rouge will provide “teacher-supported online learning” while schools are closed. Individual teachers at STM will be communicating details via email and/or Google Classroom.
The faculty, staff, and administration at St. Thomas More will have reasonable expectations for the teacher-supported online learning during the school closure. While our goal is for student learning to continue away from campus, we will be flexible and understanding.
At this time, St. Thomas More plans to move our Spring Break, previously scheduled from April 13-17, up one week to Holy Week, April 6-10. As of today, we are planning to return to school on Tuesday, April 14. Monday, April 13 will serve as a Professional Development Day for faculty and staff. Families who have scheduled vacations the week of April 13 will receive excused absences during that week of school if you are unable to change your travel plans.
Teacher-supported online learning will begin this Wednesday, March 18. In order to support our students and families, the St. Thomas More school office will be open from 9am-1pm Monday-Friday. All faculty and staff will aim to respond to email within 24 hours.
- If your child’s assignments require the use of technology, we encourage you to explore resources with family, friends, classmates, and neighbors.
- Smart phones, laptops, iPads, Playstation, X-Box, Nintendo, and other devices may be utilized to complete many assignments.
- Download Google Drive as many of our shared resources will utilize Google tools.
- During this period of school closure, Accelerated Reader will not be utilized.
The school will communicate via email, and we will also provide updates on Facebook and the school website. If we can be of support to you or your family in any way, please let us know. God bless!
