2019 Annual Fund: Comparison of Funds Raised and How Those Funds Were Expended

We collected a total of $132,380 in gifts for the 2019 Annual Fund, and we dedicated the gifts we received to improving the school’s technological resources.

As of September 22, 2020, we spent a total of $132,603.04* on the following:

  • Improvements to the STM technology infrastructure ($47,953.04) including a new server, switches, wireless access points, racks and mounts.
  • Resources for classrooms ($6,285.99) including five iPads, cases, and Apple pencils, five Apple TVs, five mounts and five TVs
  • 27 Dell Latitude 3500 laptops ($20,703.33), each equipped with Microsoft Office for use in classrooms to enhance student learning experiences in a variety of ways, including more effective utilization of classroom interactive boards
  • Sleeves for the laptops mentioned in the previous item, four desktop computers and monitors, and 14 tablets used by our Extended Care program ($4,799.75)
  • 22 additional laptops for classroom use ($16,258)
  • Three Chromebook carts with 30 devices per cart ($24,245.70)
  • 10 additional TVs, two iPads, mounts and supplies for classrooms, and one TV with mounts for the Admin Building Conference Room ($7,674.63)
  • Additional iPads and supplies ($1,537.15)
  • Chromebook seats ($2,340)
  • Chromebook cases and supplies ($805.45)

The technological resources we were able to obtain were a tremendous asset to us in facing the many challenges associated with school closure and the COVID-19 pandemic. These acquisitions continue to serve our students well now that they have returned to our classrooms.

We are very grateful to STM School parents, grandparents and friends who supported the 2019 Annual Fund. THANKS TO ALL!!!

* We spent an additional $223.04 from the school budget for technology to cover the difference between our gifts and expenditures.
A Big Thank You to Our Move the Mulch Volunteers!

We'd like to give a big THANK YOU to all of our STM families, students, and faculty who gave up their Saturday mornings to help Move the Mulch last weekend! We were able to pack the playground areas with fresh mulch in less than 2 hours thanks to the incredible hard work of those who attended.
Cell Phone Policy Reminder

Students may have cell phones on campus, and they should remain in the child's backpack while on campus. A student may only take the phone out with express permission from a faculty or staff member (this has happened occasionally at carpool). If a cell phone is outside the backpack without permission from the teacher, the phone should be confiscated and brought to the office. The teacher will contact the parent to inform them of the incident.
Child Nutrition Program Provides Free Breakfast, Lunch, & Supper

The Child Nutrition Program has been approved for a nationwide waiver from the USDA that will extend the summer feeding program through the end of this semester. Like the summer feeding program we implemented over the summer, ALL STUDENTS will qualify for FREE breakfast and lunch (suppers remain free) from the CNP, regardless of income. Supper can be provided for those in extended care.

We are grateful for this chance to feed children in our communities at no cost to parents and guardians as we all learn to cope with changes brought by COVID19 and Hurricane Laura. We will be sending more information as it comes to us. Please feel free to share this big news with your school families.

Elementary and Middle Schools Suspend Athletic Competition for the Fall Semester

From the August 21, 2020 Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Schools Press Release
Catholic elementary and middle schools in the Diocese of Baton Rouge reopened in August with appropriate procedures in place to mitigate the chance of COVID-19 transmission on campus.

The health and safety of students and staff were of primary importance in the decision to reopen school buildings in service to students and families. With that focus, it has been determined that extra-curricular athletics will not be held during the first semester of this school year. With time, it is hoped that it will be possible to consider resuming sports programs in elementary and middle schools during the spring semester.

These are extraordinary times that have caused us to take this extraordinary action.  School leaders are grateful for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders as decisions are made to ensure safety of all. We share the disappointment of our students, their families, our faculties and staffs, and the communities in which our athletic teams have participated for decades.

We all pray for a safe environment in the spring that will permit a return to spirited sports competition.
