Blessing of the Bambinelli
December 14-15

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the festivities of Christmastime, the shopping, the baking, the cleaning, but a great way to slow down and remember the focus of Christmas comes in the form of a little baby. A little Baby Jesus, of course.

St. Thomas More Parish will join in the Vatican tradition of blessing the figurines of Baby Jesus, called Bambinelli in Italian, on Gaudete Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent. Everyone (young and old alike) is invited to bring their figure of the Christ Child from their crèche for a special blessing at all Masses the weekend of Dec. 14-15. Fellowship Sunday hosted by the Women’s Ministry in the activity center will follow the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Masses on Bambinelli Sunday the 15th. Parishioners will enjoy light refreshments, a creche scene photo op, and there will be an Advent craft for children.

Please make plans to join us for this beautiful Advent tradition. A suggestion is, upon returning home from the blessing, put your Bambinelli in a box, wrap it, and place it under the tree. Let this be the first gift your family receives Christmas morning, when together you place your baby Jesus figure in the crib. It is sure to be a blessing for your entire family and a wonderful tradition for years to come.
