St. Thomas More Continues Emphasis on Improving Facilities

During the time between Thanksgiving holidays and our students return to school on January 6, we have made several substantial improvements to school facilities, including:

  • A new roof was installed on the “West Wing” of the Preschool (this area was formerly used for kindergarten classes; it now houses students in PK4 and PK5);
  • Drainage was added in the walkway area between the nurse’s station and the playground; and
  • Blinds were installed in all rooms on the north side of the K-4 Building.

The total cost of these improvements (more than $52,000) was provided without additional charges to parents.

We will continue our efforts to make our campus more functional and more aesthetically pleasing for STM students, faculty and staff, parents, grandparents and visitors. And, we are grateful for the many positive comments about campus improvements we have received from members of our STM community.
Two Ways to Earn Money for STM

When we began our Annual Fund, we promised that we would reduce the number of “asks” and fundraisers. At the same time, we have begun to explore other ways to generate financial support for our school. We found two methods that do not require additional requests, but rather are based on the existing spending habits of members of the STM community.

The first method, Box Tops, has been in place for years, but now has a technology-based update. According to the Box Tops website, “No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the ALL-NEW Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earnings online.” Twice a year, we will receive a check and can use that cash for school purposes. More details are available at:

A number of members of our community are already using this method for generating financial support for our school. Through their efforts, STM has received $492.30 this school year.

If you shop at, a portion of your spending can be donated to St. Thomas More. To date, AmazonSmile has donated a total of $628.34 to STM. More details are available at

Thanks for your consideration of these additional ways to assist our school! Please contact Dr. Greg Brandao ( ) if you have any questions about Box Tops and/or AmazonSmile.

St. Thomas More will have a normal school schedule on Tuesday, January 14. Recognizing that many of our families may be up late watching the game on Monday night, we will offer excused tardies until 9am on Tuesday morning. We will be running morning Extended Care and carpool as usual.
2020 Annual Meeting & Gumbo Cookoff January 18

The Men's Club would like to welcome all men of the parish and school to attend our 2020 Annual Meeting and Gumbo Cookoff. The meeting will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 6:00 pm in the Church Activity Center.

We will be accepting nominations to be elected to the Board of Directors at the meeting. Please plan to join us to see what exciting events the Men's Club has planned for 2020.

We continue to accept entries fro the GUMBO competition. If you think you have the best gumbo, this is your shot to dethrone last years Men's Club Champ of the Year, Mr. Chad Chenevert. The gumbo will need to be Chicken/Turkey and Sausage/Andouille. The Men's Club will be providing the rice.
