DEEP PURPLE'S PHOENIX RISING
~ NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD, DVD/CD, AND BLU-RAY ~
On June 28, Eagle Rock Entertainment released Deep Purple's Phoenix Rising - a two-hour-plus revelatory documentary including 30 minutes of never-before-seen (not even on bootleg) onstage footage from Japan. Phoenix Rising is available on DVD, Blu-ray, and in a special two-disc DVD/CD package.
The release is cause for celebration amongst Purple fans due to the rarity of material. Extensive interviews with keyboardist Jon Lord and bassist Glenn Hughes tell the tale of a band caught by circumstance into one of its most controversial, extreme and exciting eras of its long career. Ian Gillan and Roger Glover were gone. A young unknown singer by the name of David Coverdale was recruited, as was bassist Hughes. The results were the albums Burn and Stormbringer (both released in 1974). But then Ritchie Blackmore left the band. Against all odds, they rocked on, recruiting Tommy Bolin (from Zephyr and The James Gang). The album Come Taste The Band (1975) documents the short-lived Bolin era, an era that all came crashing down when the band announced in July of 1976 that it was breaking up. By December, Bolin would be dead due to a heroin overdose. Nine years of silence would ensue.
The never-before-seen 30-minute onstage footage portion, "Rises Over Japan," has the Coverdale/Lord/Bolin/ Hughes/Paice line-up delivering the goods in 1976 on eight songs: "Burn," "Getting Tighter," "Love Child," "Smoke On The Water," "Lazy," "Homeward Strut," "You Keep On Moving" and "Stormbringer." (The double-disc package contains these eight songs on CD.) This segment is some of the only video footage that showcases Tommy Bolin performing in Deep Purple.
The 90-minute documentary portion, "Getting Tighter," recounts the trials and tribulations of a band in turmoil, riding the rock 'n' roll roller coaster to total excess. With its live images, backstage footage, never-before-told stories and original video material carefully culled from years of research, it's a veritable bonanza for Purple fans and fans of Rock History. No stone is left unturned...and sometimes it's not pretty. Gritty, truthful, wild, this is the story of an era in the 1970s that is simply unforgettable.

BAD COMPANY LIVE AT WEMBLEY
~ AVAILABLE NOW IN THREE FORMATS ~
When legendary classic rockers Bad Company performed at the historic British venue Wembley Arena in London on a beautiful April, 2010 spring night, high-definition cameras captured the whole evening in all its glory. On June 28, Eagle Rock Entertainment released Live At Wembley simultaneously on DVD, Blu-ray and CD, through its Eagle Vision and Eagle Records imprints.
There was magic in the air as all three original Bad Company members-vocalist extraordinaire Paul Rodgers, guitarist Mick Ralphs and drummer Simon Kirke-were augmented by bassist Lynn Sorensen and guitarist Howard Leese (original bassist Boz Burrell died in 2006).
The set list is packed with every major hit, fan favorites and seldom-heard deep album cuts. The DVD and Blu-ray versions of this release also include an interview with the band.
Bad Company burst upon the rock 'n' roll scene in 1973, and was immediately dubbed a super-group by fans and press alike, as its members all came from very successful popular bands: Free (Rodgers and Kirke), Mott The Hoople (Ralphs) and King Crimson (Burrell). They lived up to the hype for nine straight years with a string of six soulful hard-rocking albums. After a four-year break, they got back together minus Rodgers (who had formed The Firm with Jimmy Page). Rodgers returned in 1999.

EAGLE TO RELEASE NEXT WAVE OF AMBITIOUS RORY GALLAGHER ALBUM CATALOGUE REISSUES WITH FOUR MORE CDS
~ Photo-Finish, Top Priority, Stage Struck, Jinx ~
~ July 12, 2011 ~
Eagle Rock Entertainment, in conjunction with the late guitarist/singer/songwriter's family, will re-release the third wave of albums in the catalog of the legendary Rory Gallagher. The July 12 release of Photo-Finish, Top Priority, Stage Struck and Jinx shows the natural evolution of this great artist.
Rory Gallagher, in 1978, had scrapped plans for an album he recorded in California earlier that year (finally released by Eagle in May of 2011 as Notes From San Francisco), changed his direction, and reorganized his band. Photo-Finish is the result. Primal...feral...with a hard rock edge, it would be the album that Rory had been dreaming about: a return to the immediacy and pulse-pounding drama of his stage shows. With only bassist Gerry McAvoy and drummer Ted McKenna, Rory lashes out 11 originals with spit and polish including what would become live favorites "Shin Kicker, "Shadow Play" and "Mississippi Sheiks."
A year later, Top Priority had Rory working out his studio chops to deliver what many critics think is one of his greatest albums. "Follow Me" became a concert must. "Philby" has him playing a sitar he borrowed from Pete Townshend of The Who (which he also uses on "Bad Penny"). "Off The Handle" has him blowing some mighty angry blues harp. With McAvoy and McKenna sticking to him like a second skin, Rory again eschews covers for 11 tightly-wound originals.
The Gallagher/McKenna/McAvoy triumvirate proved to be a tight machine of epic proportions. It was obvious touring globally had sharpened their chops to pinpoint precision. Rory had already made two of hard rock's greatest live albums in Irish Tour and Live In Europe (both also reissued as part of this project), so sensing a definite demand for another installment, he kicked off the 80s' with the live Stage Struck. Starting off with the biker anthem "Shin Kicker," this 71-minute grabber includes first-time-on-record live versions from Calling Card (1976), Photo-Finish and Top Priority.
It would be nearly three full years from his last studio effort but Jinx, originally released in April of 1982 (and Rory's Gallagher's first 1980s studio album), would ultimately prove to be his last studio album for almost six years. Jinx pulls out all the stops: Saxophonists Dick Parry (from Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon) and Ray Beavis, keyboardist Bob Andrews, and drummer Brendan O'Neill complement Rory on 11 scintillating tracks, including fan favorites "Big Guns," "Bourbon," and "Easy Come, Easy Go." (check out the roots-reverent cover of bluesman Louisiana Red's "Ride On Red, Ride On").

ROBIN GIBB IN CONCERT WITH THE DANISH NATIONAL CONCERT ORCHESTRA
~ SET FOR RELEASE ON DVD JULY 12 ~

Robin Gibb, and his brothers Barry and Maurice, are not only in the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame, but the Songwriters Hall of Fame for the timeless songs of the Bee Gees. Now one of the three voices that enticed numerous generations across many continents for decades, can be heard when Eagle Rock Entertainment releases Robin Gibb In Concert With The Danish National Concert Orchestra on DVD in Dolby Digital Stereo on July 12.
Beautifully symphonic, this stirring and magnificent evening of song was filmed in the summer of 2009 at Ledreborg Castle in Denmark. The 17-song set is a satisfying blend of Bee Gees classics (including "Stayin' Alive," "Massachusetts," "To Love Somebody," and many others) as well as Robin's solo material performed with his touring band. The DVD also includes the popular song "Alan Freeman Days" which Robin penned about the late DJ who had much to do with the success of the Bee Gees, and so many other British bands. This is the first time the song has been released in a live version.
The Bee Gees have sold over 200 million albums since forming in Australia in the 1960s. They're the only songwriters in the UK to have enjoyed #1 hits in each of five straight decades, and have charted 60 hit singles. With over 6,500 known cover versions of their extensive songwriting catalogue, their immense influence on pop music is immeasurable. The band recently celebrated their 50-year anniversary, which Eagle Rock commemorated with the simultaneous DVD/Blu-ray release of the In Our Own Time documentary (November 2010).
Robin Gibb's performance with the Danish National Concert Orchestra is a stunning display of this beloved artist.
