This Week at Good Shepherd

Adult Formation Class this Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Parlor. We will watch the final video from "Walking the Bible".

Next week, we will begin our discussion of "The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World" written by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama. Interested? Please come!

During the 10:30 service this Sunday, an Eagle Ceremony for three of our Good Shepherd Youth will take place. Please read on for information about each project. A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.

Oscar Holmes Seale: Oscar’s Eagle Project was to raise the funds and donations, organize the labor to build two storage cabinets and then fill them with clothing, diapers and food items for the Good Shepherd Day School. These items can be used by the Day School teachers and any parents of Day School students with needs. Oscar passed his Eagle board of review on April 1, 2025.

John “Jack” Matthews McKellar: Jack’s Eagle Project was to raise the funds and organize the labor needed to build new benches for the United Community Ministries homeless shelter. The homeless shelter is not open during the day, and the benches outside were in need of replacement. Jack passed his Eagle board of review on June 3, 2025.

Matthew Adam McKellar: Matthew’s Eagle Project was to raise the funds and organize several work days to transform a storage room into another dressing room at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center in Wilson. They cleaned everything out of the room and then painted, put in flooring, installed dressing tables with mirrors and added lighting. Matthew passed his Eagle board of review on November 4, 2025.

Wednesday Centering Prayer and mid week Eucharist begins at 11:30. All are welcome.

Resuming Wednesday, Jan 7: Midday Eucharist with Contemplative Prayer. Contemplative prayer begins at 11:30 a.m. concluding with a noon Eucharist. No need to know "how-to" pray contemplatively-- Becky+ will guide us.

All Choirs Rehearse Wednesday. The Cherub and Alleluia Choirs will rehearse Wednesdays with Cherub Choir starting at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. Alleluia Choir rehearsals will begin at 5:15 p.m. and end at 6:15 p.m. The two choirs will rehearse together from 5:15-5:30 p.m. The Adult Choir rehearses at 7:00 p.m.

Coming Soon!

On February 7th (a Saturday), we will be hosting a Rise Against Hunger event on behalf of the Rocky Mount Convocation (our local grouping of Episcopal churches)

This is a meal-packing event, and this is what RAH does all day every day, so they've got it down to a science. They show up at 9:00 a.m., we start the event at 10:00 and keep packing until 12:00, and they pack out until 1:00 p.m. The Convocation has been doing this for years, and it's our turn host this year!

Right now we (as a convocation, not just Good Shepherd) will be responsible for providing 75 volunteers and $6350 in funds to pay for the material and shipping it to where they ship it to — last year it went to the Philippines). We've already got $900 from an over-payment last year.

If Good Shepherd hugs this to death with donations, we can add more meals (so, packing 20K instead of 15K) up until the last week of January. Look for sign up information information in early January. Sign up at this link: http://events.riseagainsthunger.org/rmc26

Last Sunday's Christmas Pageant was wonderful! Thank you to the children and adults who participated in a memorable Pageant. The wonder of Christmas was perfectly portrayed by all.
