A Peek Inside RCS Classrooms Last Week!
1P made a list of examples of how to show kindness. The kids had many great ideas!
A few favorites:
- Say excuse me rather than just pushing your way through.
- Tell someone they did a good job.
- Share your toys.

3V is learning how to summarize information from a story using the Somebody Wanted But So Then method. They have been asking questions, taking notes, and are now writing their summaries. SWBST is such a helpful tool for pairing down the information to what is most important for a summary.

Nine-Square in the Air made 4th and 5th grade recess so much fun last Friday! This was new to our 4th graders but they eagerly jumped right in. There’s lots of playful shouting when the king or queen gets dethroned and a new royalty takes over!

Physics Students brought out the toys! This 30 sec video is surprisingly satisfying to watch. Physics students observe and time wind-up toys. They will use the results to understand the difference of speed, velocity, acceleration and linear motion.

HS Volunteers Needed for RCE Eagles Care
Calling ALL High Schoolers!!
If you are interested in serving with elementary students after school, we have several opportunities for you! Be an afterschool tutor, chess club helper, and/or running club helper. Volunteers can post these opportunities on their high school transcript for colleges to see. Please e-mail Mr. Patrick Lee at patlee@rcs.edu with questions and/or a volunteer application.
| |
From the Counselor: Am I On Track?
|
I am often asked by parents and students alike “Am I (or my child) on track for college application requirements?” Let me put your mind at ease. If your child chooses his or her courses according to the course catalog each year, they will accumulate the required courses needed not only for graduation, but also for college application. By choosing honors or Advanced Placement courses from the RCS offerings, your child’s transcripts will present an even stronger application to those colleges expecting a student to complete a more rigorous course of study in high school.
If you have questions regarding college or career planning, please contact me at LisaSuth@rcs.edu.
