"World"

1 Corinthians 2:7 (KJV) But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.

1 Corinthians 2:7 (AMP)But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God—[that wisdom] which God devised and decreed before the ages for our glorification [to lift us into the glory of His presence].

1 Corinthians 2:7 (NLT2) No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began.

1 Corinthians 2:7 (GW) We speak about the mystery of God's wisdom. It is a wisdom that has been hidden, which God had planned for our glory before the world began.

World: The universe; the whole system of created globes or vast bodies of matter.

The earth; the terraqueous globe; sometimes called the lower world. The heavens; as when we speak of the heavenly world or upper world. System of beings; or the orbs which occupy space, and all the beings which inhabit them. Hebrews 11:7. . Present state of existence; as while we are in the world. The customs and manners of men; the practice of life.   The inhabitants of the earth; the whole human race. John 3:16. The carnal state or corruption of the earth; as the present evil world; the course of this world Gal. 1-4. Ephesians 2:2.

Greek: aion [ahee-ohn’] = ever [71], world [38], never [6], evermore [4], age [2], eternal [2]. from the same as; properly an age; - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Usage Notes: The following are details concerning the world in this respect; its cares, Matt. 13:22; its sons, Luke 16:8; Luke 20:34; its rulers, 1 Cor. 2:6, 8; its wisdom, 1 Cor. 1:20; 1 Cor. 2:6; 1 Cor. 3:18, its fashion, Rom. 12:2; its character, Gal. 1:4; its god, 2 Cor. 4:4.            There seems to be a time when God created all physical things yet with this, he also put into place the idea of ‘free will’ and man’s obligations to follow the moral code of his creation. Frankly, Love God and Love your neighbor as yourself. But this breaks down with the fall of man and the whole system gets turned upside down and that one simple act had to pave way for a Savior, not only of ourselves but the world in which we live.

The world in essence is the idea of man and his ability to make decisions and do the things that lead to the blessings of God, yet we know from thousands of years of history, man does not have the ability to govern himself without the intervention of a more wiser and more inciteful Ruler who has the power to back up ALL of His decisions with a simple directive from the Holy Spirit.

Even after the Born-Again experience and the empowering of the Holy Spirit, man just can’t seem to self-discipline his actions in a way that pleases the Father. This is the idea of ‘anti’ or being against one thing or another. It amazes me the number of believers that I know, the vast majority, who spend less time a week reading and studying the Word of God than they do taking a shower or getting dressed and this could even be an exaggeration.

This is the idea of Jesus reprimanding the disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane when He spoke to them and declared that it would have been a very small thing to have spent an hour praying with Him and quite frankly it was a time very near to the crucifixion. Mark 14:37-38 (NASB) And He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? "Keep watching and praying that you may not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."  Jesus leads us to believe that this would have been the very least we could have done, yet these men who walked with Him for more than 3 years, could not overcome the world and spend the necessary time in prayer. This is the heart of all problems in this country, and this is on the ‘back’ of all who are not serious and focused on the Word, to help change the world, at least the one they live in.
