Searcheth: To look over or through for the purpose of finding something; to explore; to examine by inspection; as, to search the house for a book. To inquire; to seek for; to probe; to seek the knowledge of by feeling with instrument; to examine; to seek till found or to find by seeking; as, to search out truth.
Greek: eraunao [er-yoo-nah’-o] =search [6]. apparently from (ereo) (through the idea of inquiry); to seek, i.e. (figurative) to investigate: - search. Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The Greek word 'ereunaō' may also be used. an earlier form, "to search, examine," is used (a) of God, as "searching" the heart, Rom. 8:27; (b) of Christ, similarly, Rev. 2:23; (c) of the Holy Spirit, as "searching" all things, 1 Cor. 2:10, acting in the spirit of the believer; (d) of the OT prophets, as "searching" their own writings concerning matters foretold of Christ, testified by the Spirit of Christ in them, 1 Pet. 1:11 (cp. No. 2); (e) of the Jews, as commanded by the Lord to "search" the Scriptures, John 5:39, AV, and RV marg., "search," RV text, "ye search," either is possible grammatically; (f) of Nicodemus as commanded similarly by the chief priests and Pharisees, John 7:52. Searching could be identified with such requirements as meditate [ Psalm 119:148 (AMP) My eyes anticipate the night watches and I am awake before the cry of the watchman, that I may meditate on Your word.] and study [2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth] and can be the main theme of what goes on in the heart of a man as he searches for treasures in the Spirit world that can prosper, heal, redeem, generate joy and a myriad of other God like qualities.
The main thought in this searching is the idea of changing one’s heart to be more like Christ. This is the endeavor that takes place when you move from a goat to a sheep, once one is born again. Matthew 25:33 (ICB) The Son of Man will put the sheep, the good people, on his right and the goats, the bad people, on his left. The Spirit of God is always at work in the believer seeking the communication of the Word of God to the one who is hungry for more and is at liberty to fill him up.
Perhaps one of the great things the Lord has taught me in recent years is that He is aggressively attempting to get involved in our life so that we can fulfill the destiny God has placed in us at birth. Read Psalms 139. It is the role of the believer to willingly get engaged with the Holy Spirit and allow what we search out to become reality. This is the essence of the Christian walk.
The Spirit seeks the deeper things of God so that it can be presented to the individual who is attempting to know more and to move from milk to meat and to become one of the 5 wise virgins who were constantly ready, willing and able to walk with the kind of wisdom that will set the captive free. If we seek, we will find. Luke 11:9 (AMP) So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. Don’t ever stop, never, never, never.
