No matter how one ‘slices’ it, God is the main theme of these passages of scripture for in His omnipotent state, He sees the future and how it all plays. In His process of ‘all knowing’, He finds those who are faithful and sensitive to the voice of the Spirit and uses them to the fullest extent. Not that He does not want to use the other believers, but He is looking for obedience and faithfulness in what He is attempting to get across to those of us who are His children.
Just as in any family, there will be those who will listen by their actions and there will be those who will be rebellious to the leadership of father and mother. You may say that my mom and dad were not Godly and were not nice and did not give us all that we needed and wanted. I remind you my friend that when God told us to honor our father and mother that is exactly what he meant and it is not on your decision to obey or not, just do it. Ephesians 6:2-3 (NLT2) “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
Now there are exceptions to this rule, but they are relatively rare. You are to never violate a command of God if your parents would ask of you. Like lying to someone if they demanded you to. But there is no qualification in scripture whereby one has a right to disobey your earthly parents or hate them for something they did or did not do. God has chosen you to be in that family and perhaps because of a ‘curse’ or some other negative activity, your parents through their ignorance just did not get it right. But that is why you came along and the issue is, are you going to continue the curse in your family or are you going to surrender to the working of the Holy Spirit and get that thing out of your lives once and for all.
One just needs to recognize the shortcoming and then the Father will begin to show you how to correct it and get your family moving on the right pathway. One thing is for sure, if you will change and break the curse, there is a great chance that you will be able to assist your parents in making a change and this will all come about if you choose to forgive and make the decision to walk in ‘Unconditional Love’. This means you choose as an act of your will, not remembering any wrongs or shortcomings and that you are committed by prayer and supplication to break that ignorance and curse and to help place your parents on a solid ground. If your parents brought you up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and you rebelled, you must go to them and make sure you make it right and the God of all Creation will get on your side, get behind you and set your feet on a solid rock and your life will begin to change and your dreams and goals and plans will be exponential. This is my friend totally up to you and the Holy Spirit is ready, willing, and able to help and to defend your decision.
