"Wisdom"

1 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:22 (NLT2) It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:22 (AMP) For while Jews [demandingly] ask for signs and miracles and Greeks pursue philosophy and wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:22 (MSG) While Jews clamor for miraculous demonstrations and Greeks go in for philosophical wisdom.

Wisdom: In Scripture theology, wisdom is true religion; godliness; piety; the knowledge and fear of God, and sincere and uniform obedience to his commands. This is the wisdom which is from above. Psalms 90:12. Job 28:12. Profitable words or doctrine. Psalms 37:30. The wisdom of this world, mere human erudition; or the carnal policy of men, their craft and artifices in promoting their temporal interests; called also fleshly wisdom 1 Corinthians 2:1.  2 Corinthians 1:12. The wisdom of words, artificial or affected eloquence; or learning displayed in teaching. 1 Corinthians 1:17 and the right use or exercise of knowledge; the choice of laudable ends, and of the best means to accomplish them. This is wisdom in act, effect, or practice. If wisdom is to be considered as a faculty of the mind, it is the faculty of discerning or judging what is most just, proper and useful, and if it is to be considered as an acquirement, it is the knowledge and use of what is best, most just, most proper, most conducive to prosperity or happiness. Wisdom in the first sense, or practical wisdom is nearly synonymous with discretion. It differs somewhat from prudence, in this respect; prudence is the exercise of sound judgment in avoiding evils; wisdom is the exercise of sound judgment either in avoiding evils or attempting good. Prudence then is a species, of which wisdom is the genius. WISDOM gained by experience is of inestimable value.  Quickness of intellect; readiness of apprehension; dexterity in execution.  Natural instinct and sagacity.

Wisdom is the principal thing, get wisdom at all costsProverbs 4:7 (AMP) The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation). I have read that portion of scripture perhaps more than any other in the entire reading of the Bible. It installs a sense of leadership and success along with its meaning and provides man all that he needs for survival and beyond. It should be the one thing every man seeks for and if they seek, they will find. Proverbs 8:17 (AMP) I love those who love me, and those who seek me early and diligently shall find me.

Wisdom is a part of the applied knowledge of life and its benefits to you and all that pertains to you. It is described as the one thing in life that can make all the difference in one being healthy, prosperous, and succeeding at every endeavor. I ask for it and to recognize it every day because the Lord has promised that if we ask anything, He will do it. John 11:22 (KJV) But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.  John 14:13 (NIV2011) And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

These are some very serious statements by Jesus, so the key is not, did He mean it, but do you have your receiver on and working and tuned into the proper channel. We get very observant when sitting in the doctor’s office or listening to the advice of a close friend or talking to a banker who seems to control your ‘purse’ strings. But no authority is above the rulership of the Lord Jesus Christ, if you have truly made Him your Lord. His words should take ‘front and center’ over everything that is spoken to you or read by you throughout the course of the day. This is how Lordship is developed and continues to grow. The more you surrender to the will of Christ [His Word] the more the results of the Word will become real [wisdom] to you in its use. We must learn to know how to handle the Word of God and to declare before God and man that we shall let God be true and every man a liar. Romans 3:4 (AMP) By no means! Let God be found true though every human being is false and a liar, as it is written, That You may be justified and shown to be upright in what You say, and prevail when You are judged [by sinful, doubting men].
