"A proclamation by a herald", denotes "a message, a preaching" (the substance of what is "preached" as distinct from the act of "preaching"), Matt. 12:41; Luke 11:32; Rom. 16:25; 1 Cor. 1:21; 1 Cor. 2:4; 1 Cor. 15:14; in 2 Tim. 4:17; Titus 1:3, RV, "message", "proclamation," AV, "preaching." So much of our studies and preaching seems to have an abundance of repetition. So much so that often we get a little discouraged or at best, we lose interest in the preacher or person presenting the lesson.
What I want to explain here is that repetition is not only healthy to the reader and studier of the Word but is necessary if we are to ever get a hold of what the Spirit is attempting to get across to us. I desire to educate you on the idea of meditation and just exactly what does this little unknown and little sought-after word means.
Meditation: To dwell on anything in thought; to contemplate; to study; to turn or revolve any subject in the mind; or a consideration of the great truths of religion. Close or continued thought; the turning or revolving of a subject in the mind; serious contemplation. This is my definition based on several other criteria. “To think on or dwell on something over and over again until you understand it completely.” This is the message of understanding that the Lord gave to me several years ago as I contemplated this thought and the idea of the Word of God and its seemingly repetitious thought: for example, the four gospels.
I have practiced this idea repeatedly as I would read, study, memorize, and speak out loud the Word of God. Often, I would not understand the meaning of it all and I left my home in the mornings with the thought that I would eventually catch ahold of it. There were times that I could not get the message or idea to the place of understanding, so I would just leave it alone for a season. Often when this happens, time would pass till the Lord would speak it to me and when He would, it was then that it had its greatest impact. The best I can tell you about these experiences is that the Christian Life is a walk of faith and there are times we must believe, even though we do not understand all that we would desire. God is understanding of all of this, and He knows the perfect timing for it all. The secret to us is that we never stop proclaiming what we know and look forward to the time of further enlightenment. This is the idea of the “rhema and logos” words and for these, we must walk in faith, never doubting and the Lord will see to it we SEE, Ok.
