"Greeks"

1 Corinthians 1:22 (KJV) For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:22 (NLT2) It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:22 (AMP) For while Jews [demandingly] ask for signs and miracles and Greeks pursue philosophy and wisdom.

1 Corinthians 1:22 (MSG) While Jews clamor for miraculous demonstrations and Greeks go in for philosophical wisdom.

Greeks: they were natives of Greece or in the Bible often were referred to as Gentiles.

Greek: Hellen [hel’-lane] = from (Hellas); a Hellen (Grecian) or inhabitant of Hellas; by extension a Greek-speaking person, especially a non-Jew: - Gentile, Greek. Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Hellēn Usage Notes: then, Greeks as opposed to barbarians, Rom. 1:14. It became applied to such Gentiles as spoke the Greek language, e.g., Gal. 2:3; Gal. 3:28. Since that was the common medium of intercourse in the Roman Empire, Greek and Gentile became more or less interchangeable terms. For this term the RV always adheres to the word "Greeks," e.g., John 7:35; Rom. 2:9, 10; Rom. 3:9; 1 Cor. 10:32, where the local church is distinguished from Jews and Gentiles; 1 Cor. 12:13. Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words.

Most of our years of being involved with the church, we always understood there were two kinds of folks on the earth during the first few centuries of the New Testament. The Greek was never a point of view, only did we call non -Jews, Gentiles. I am not sure if there is a significant reason for all of this, but we know that the Jew was a descendant of Abraham who was the main patriarch of the entire Jewish nation and later the Christian. Everything in the Kingdom centered on faithful Abraham who was the father of faith. Matthew 1:1 (AMP) THE BOOK of the ancestry (genealogy) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed), the son (descendant) of David, the son (descendant) of Abraham.

It is amazing to me how often God speaks of Abraham in the New Testament, some 114 times in reference to we are all sons of Abraham, from David to Jesus to everyone born again in the Kingdom of God. James 2:23 (AMP) And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God's will in thought and deed), and he was called God's friend. James 2:22 (TLB) You see, he was trusting God so much that he was willing to do whatever God told him to; his faith was made complete by what he did—by his actions, his good deeds.

Abraham’s life was an exemplary [serving as a desirable model: representing the best of its kind] and it was so profound that he was called the friend of God [see James 2:23]. I know that Jesus called us friends, but the great question of the ages is what do you call Jesus?   Do you trust Him in life’s situations for not just the big things [cancer, diabetes, financial lack, mental breakdown] but even more significant, your daily bread, your traveling mercies, the protection from the Corona Virus, and the small list continues.

I have seen great fear in the eyes of so many concerning this virus that it just astounds me. I am talking about Christians who have Jesus Words to give comfort, hope, protection and direction. This is what the whole idea of Abraham was about. I call it the ‘Isaac Factor’ and I have been doing a teaching on this concept for several weeks in our Warrior class. If you want to join us and listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying about this issue, tune in on [YouTube-Eagles Point Ministries and we publish this one hour teaching we do every Thursday night at 6:30 to 8:00 with a bit of worship]. You are all welcome to watch and be a part of what God is doing in this City of Lima, Ohio where God is going to turn this depressed and forsaken place into a monument for the Kingdom of God and cause this place to be blessed beyond anything we can ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 (NASB77) Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us[sd1] .

It has already started and God is going to do it, just as He told me some 43 years ago. Come and enjoy the excitement and watch and see what the Lord is going to do through a group of young, ‘wet behind the ears’ men who call themselves the “Warriors”. This I can assure my readers, it will come to pass as surely as night follows day, harvest follows planting, exhaling of carbon dioxide follows oxygen breathing. We are no long mere Greeks who once conquered the whole world, but are Holy Ghost, Blood bought, forgiven, righteous, sanctified, redeemed, and full of the Wisdom of God, mighty Warriors who allow God to use our hands, feet, eyes, ears, mouth, and the sword of the Living Word of God. Are you brave enough and confident in Him to allow Him to use you to the uttermost, come hell or high water, great adversity and trial and an enemy who is not made of flesh and blood? Christ has given to us all power and all authority to overcome every obstacle and barrier that befalls us and we will come out on the other side victorious.
