Paul is speaking to us that there is a difference in the language we present when we are around the person who has no hope, or understanding of his future and what is the meaning of life for those who don’t believe. But also, the message is for the marginal or baby Christian who loves to have his ears tickled and pampered and told that everything will be alright and has no ‘stomach’ for meat or majority in the things of the Kingdom.
This milk drinking believer could be one who has been a Christian for many years, could have attended church since he was a young person and perhaps could have even attended a Bible school or some kind of training in the Scriptures. I have known many of them in my lifetime of walking with the Lord and they are a bunch of folks who are very difficult to reach with any maturity at all. They have locked themselves into an agenda of ‘normal’ that equates to never growing or seeking to know Him more. They get quite complacent with the status quo and will argue with you till the ‘cows come home’ concerning anything spiritual or especially supernatural. They have no stomach for the gifts of spirits or for that matter, gifts of any kind except the gift of grace through faith which gets them into heaven. It is not a bad spot to be in but often they allow themselves to be in the way of anyone who is having an unusual experience with the Holy Spirit and with power.
As I heard a preacher, Jimmy Evans, say, you are never static or standing still, but are always moving upward or downward despite the fact that you don’t even know it. This places them in a position where they become friends with the world and all that they are doing and how they are doing it. They see no problem in voting for a man who is for abortion or who lies to get across to the nation his own agenda. They see what is happening in the school systems and declare it is Ok, as long as they keep paying the salaries and benefits. It is Ok to go to doctors who are not believers themselves and listen to them tell the opposite of what God had to say to them about their affliction. They personally borrow money on depreciating assets and are continually attempting to ‘keep up with the Joneses’. In other words, they have become so entwined with the world that there is very little difference between them and the lifestyle the world leads, much the same as wheat and the tares found in Math. 13:26,29,30.
God wants us to experience the divine plan for our life and that the book of remembrance be fulfilled. Find out what God has for you and seek His face more than you ever have before and He will meet you where you are and you will have joy unspeakable and full of glory.
