Prepare

Part 2 of 5

"Fear"

Hebrews 11:7 (KJV) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Hebrews 11:7 (MSG) By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn't see and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.

Hebrews 11:7 (NLT2) It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith.

Hebrews 11:7 (AMP) [Prompted] by faith Noah, being forewarned by God concerning events of which as yet there was no visible sign, took heed and diligently and reverently constructed and prepared an ark for the deliverance of his own family. By this [his faith which relied on God] he passed judgment and sentence on the world's unbelief and became an heir and possessor of righteousness (that relation of being right into which God puts the person who has faith).

Fear: FEAR is the passion of our nature which excites us to provide for our security, on the approach of evil. Anxiety; solicitude.

Greek: eulabeomai [you-lab-eh’-om-ahee]: fearing [1], moved with fear [1]. middle from (eulabes); to be circumspect, i.e. (by implication) to be apprehensive; religiously, to reverence :- (moved with) fear. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. Usage Notes: "to be cautious, to beware", signifies to act with the reverence produced by holy "fear," Heb. 11:7, "moved with godly fear." Notes: (1) In Acts 23:10 some manuscripts have this verb with the meaning under No. 1. In Luke 3:14, diaseiō, "to shake violently, to intimidate, to extort by violence, blackmail," is rendered "put no man in fear" in Authoriized Version marg. See VIOLENCE. Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words.

This idea of fear is not the kind you had as a child whereby you told scarry stories on the nights of sleeping out in the backyard, only to get yourself in a stupor over the boogey man someway somehow, getting into your tent and everyone dies. These were the days of scaring yourself with crazy and ridiculous stories of made-up villains and creepy creatures.

No, this fear is something much more real and can be just as devastating and destructive as any fear known to man. This rides on the idea of a thought or word that you speak that can cause your life to truly be cut short. It concludes on the idea of Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 18:21 (TLB) Those who love to talk will suffer the consequences. Men have died for saying the wrong thing!

This my friend is the idea of God speaking to Noah and the results of not listening or obeying the warning. As a matter of fact, the whole Bible is a series of warnings and instructions on the reaping and sowing principle and the importance of listening to, acknowledging and acting on the Words of God and His wisdom and insight into the nature of man and what we need to survive in this world.

So many failures, losses, shortcomings, and even early deaths could be avoided if we just make the decision to be in the Word and obey its simple teachings. God gives us directions for every area and decision we will ever make, and it is all because He loves us and gave Himself up for us.
