Sow: participle present tense Scattering, as seed; sprinkling with seed, as ground; stocking with seed. noun the act of scattering seed for propagation.
Hebrew: Zara [zaw-rah’]: sow [47], yielding [3], Sower [2], bearing [1], conceive [1], seed [1], set [1]. a primitive root; to sow; figurative to disseminate, plant, fructify: - bear, conceive seed, set with, sow (-er), yield. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
Perhaps the most popular and well know verse that relates to the sowing and reaping process is the book of Galations. Galatians 6:7-8 (NLT2) Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
This idea of sowing and reaping goes all the way back to Genesis and God’s communication with Adam and Eve concerning the idea of seedtime and harvest. As long as the earth shall be there will always be a time of sowing and a time of reaping.
Yet the most notable idea is from the vantage point of view that it is not just the sowing and reaping but the condition and the life of the seed. What kind of seed are we referring to and how does this all come about.
This also is identified in Galations 6 and should be a precursor to the point of Genesis that everything is based on its own kind. Genesis 1:11-12 (NKJV) Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth"; and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
This is why it is so important for the believer to pay close attention to the message and lifestyle he is presenting to the earth. The life we live is not a destructor of our relationship with Jesus and our being born again, but it is a definitive example of what a man sows is what he reaps.
When going throughout your day, is it kindness or conflict, is it hope or devastation, is it dreams or death, is it faith or a constant nagging of questioning and doubting, is it words of healing or those of criticism. What is it that you are sowing among your peers and what can be the cause and effect of these actions.
The answer to that is quite clear, so it would pay those of you who are always looking at the dark side of life, especially if you claim to be a Christian, to take a long hard look at the things you are sowing and make the adjustment to allow Jesus to change you from the inside out. This is why He came, and this is what He is good at, if you will acknowledge Him in all of your ways, not just those that you think are important. Proverbs 3:5 (AMP) Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
