No Changes

Part 4 of 5

"Today"

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Hebrews 13:8 (AMP) Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever (to the ages).

Hebrews 13:8 (MSG) For Jesus doesn't change—yesterday, today, tomorrow, he's always totally himself.

Hebrews 13:8 (CEV) Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Today: The Present day THIS DAY [22], TO DAY [18], THIS+g3388[1]

Greek: SEMERON [SAY’-MER-ON}: on the (i.e. this) day (or night current or just passed); general now (i.e. at present, hitherto): - this (to-) day. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. The clause containing sēmeron is sometimes introduced by the conjunction hoti, "that," e.g., Mark 14:30; Luke 4:21; Luke 19:9; sometimes without the conjunction, e.g., Luke 22:34; Luke 23:43, where "today" is to be attached to the next statement, "shalt thou be with Me;" there are no grammatical reasons for the insistence that the connection must be with the statement "Verily I say unto thee," nor is such an idea necessitated by examples from either the Sept. or the NT; the connection given in the AV and RV is right. In Rom. 11:8; 2 Cor. 3:14, 15, the lit. rendering is "unto the today day," the emphasis being brought out by the RV, "unto (until) this very day." In Heb. 4:7, the "today" of Psa. 95:7 is evidently designed to extend to the present period of the Christian faith. Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words.

There is no better time to get something done than today. Yesterday is gone and you will never live tomorrow, yet so many folks spend most of their time in one or the other. Today is all that we have promised to us, unless one is a strong believer in the promises of God.

Just take for instance the 91st Psalm. I would agree that most folks have read and focused on this powerful Psalm, but the important ingredient is do you believe it, even to the loss of one’s life if the belief system were pointing that way. Take for example Abraham and Isaac and the experience on the altar of sacrifice where Abraham even took a knife and wood for the burning of his body. Read Genesis 22:1-14. This is perhaps the most outstanding story in the whole of the Bible.

Abrahan had Isaac laying on the altar of sacrifice and was prepared to strike the lad and shed his blood and then burn him. Wow! Genesis 22:12 (KJV) 12 And he said, lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now, I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. It was then that Jehovah-Jirah showed up and the whole world and Abraham changed. Genesis 22:14 (KJV) 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

This is the kind of today that God is calling for His Body who have been bought and paid for, are to react to life and its many challenges. This is the faith of the Father and what He has sealed through Jesus Christ and placed inside all who believe.

Let’s get it together and bring this kind of sacrifice to our Savior who paid it all for us to live the victorious life in the here and now called today.
