Same: identical; not different; not having changed; used to emphasize that one is referring to a particular and unique person.
Greek: autos[ow-tos’]: him [1952], his [1084], their [318], he [253], her [242], they [121], same [80], himself [58]. her, it (-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, ([self-], the) same, ([him-, my-, thy-]) self, [your-] selves, Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. denotes "the same" when preceded by the article, and either with a noun following, e.g., Mark 14:39; Phil 1:30; 1 Cor. 12:4, or without, e.g., Matt. 5:46, 47; Rom. 2:1; Phil. 2:2; Phil. 3:1; Heb. 1:12; Heb. 13:8. It is thus to be distinguished from uses as a personal and a reflexive pronoun. Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words.
God is attempting to get across to us that the uniqueness of His person is that you came to trust Him and His promises.
I grew up in a church that spent a good deal of time dismissing away anything that was in the realm of the supernatural. This was negatively spewed on a regular basis concerning the Full Gospel folks and what they practiced and adhered to. There was once a preaching concerning the Gifts of the Spirit and more specifically tongues. The pastor spoke of an incident that he had heard about but not experienced. The message was that folks were speaking in tongues jumping from pew to pew [on the backs of] making all kinds of weird noises and acting like they were in a kind of trance. This was the image that I developed in my heart concerning the gifts of the Spirit. I stayed away from this and voided it like the ‘plague’.
It wasn’t until many years later in January of 1980 [I was 30], that I decided that the teaching I had received was in error and then I realized why that pastor spent all his life struggling with health, finances, his children and all we hold dear. One can’t spend a lifetime condemning what we don’t understand, especially when one is closed minded to anything outside the four walls of your mind. Because you do not understand a thing, does not mean that it is not real or a part of what God has for us in this Kingdom and life. Mark 3:29 (AMP) But whoever speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can never get forgiveness but is guilty of and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass. This does not mean you can’t go to heaven, but you must stop and change your mind and attitude. This scripture is directed towards all man, saved or unsaved.
If you do not want to be endued with Power, keep still and live in the place of quietness and do not condemn what you do not understand, when it is in the Word of God. Acts 7:51 (NKJV) "You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. Acts 11:16 (KJV) Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
This is what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Acts 1:7-8 (KJV) And he said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 2:4 (KJV)And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:16-21 (KJV) But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. If we struggle with the Gifts of the Spirit, how will we handle these signs and wonders?
