Love Always

Part 3 of 4

"Trusts"

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NIV) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (KJV) Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT2) Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

1 Corinthians 13:7 (HCSB) It⌋ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Trusts [believeth, KJV]: Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone; acceptance of the truth of a statement without evidence or investigation; the state of being responsible for someone; commit someone to the safekeeping of; place reliance on someone over which one has little control.

Greek: pisteuo [pist-yoo’-o]: believe [239], commit unto [4], be committed unto [1], believer [1], commit to one’s trust [1].  from (pistis); to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit; by implication to entrust (especially one's spiritual well-being to Christ) :- believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.  "To believe," also "to be persuaded of," and hence, "to place confidence in, to trust," signifies, in this sense of the word, reliance upon, not mere credence. Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words.

Trust is a very strong word to us today. It seems that there is very little trust left in the world. The radio spews out negative things, the people at work are negative, our friends have gotten a little more critical, our relatives speak of all the bad things that happen to them. They don’t live in a world of trust anymore.

Are things getting that bad out there or are we inundated with wrong information through the media we choose to watch or listen to? God said it this way: Prov 3:5,6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t lean to your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.” You see, God is trying to get you to focus on Him and not the things around you. I made a comment recently to a group of people and one of the individuals in that group disagreed with me. I stated that we don’t have to listen to all the negative radio, TV, and internet be it a Republican, Democrat or Wall Street. Somehow or another, you will get all the negative news out there and you won’t miss a thing by not listening to those programs.  This is what I have chosen to do, and I don’t believe I have missed a single current event that is important for me to know. If you never watch a presidential debate, you will still be informed as much as you like on election day. In the meantime, most of us will have no influence on the outcome of who we vote for, and you can bypass all the negative jargon and backbiting and slandering and can keep that out of your soul [your mind, will and emotions]. This can really mess you up. Even the people who seem to be ‘in the know’, know very little. It is kind of like the stock market which no man can truly predict. You just get into a sound company and hold through the years and hopefully you will increase in the end.

Keep your heart and mind protected from the influences of the outside world. I believe this is what the Lord was attempting to get across to us in Jeremiah 17:5,7 (NLT) This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD. 7 “But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence.” [Not politicians, Supreme Court Justices, Presidents or any other type of leadership]. It says to “Trust in the Lord”. Be at peace and get into your prayer closet and praise and thank the Lord for His having control over the affairs of man.

If we will simply commit ourselves to the Word of God and begin to trust in what He is saying, all your decisions will begin to unfold to the positive and you will fulfill another ‘leg’ of the love walk which always wins!
