Are You Satisfied?

Part 2 of 2

"Satisfy"

Psalm 91:16 (NKJV) With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.

Psalm 91:16 (NLT2) I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

Psalm 91:16 (BBE) With long life will he be rewarded; and I will let him see my salvation.

Psalm 91:16 (NAB) With length of days I will satisfy them and show them my saving power.

God promises a long life if we meet certain criteria. Vs 9 of the 91st Psalm gives us the key. If you make the Most High your dwelling even the Lord who is your refuge. Dwelling here denotes a place where you spend a great deal of your time or a place where a person lives.

Satisfy: To gratify wants, wish to free from doubt, suspense or uncertainty; to cause the mind to rest in confidence by ascertaining the truth; as, to satisfy oneself by inquiry.es or desires to the full extent; to supply possession or enjoyment till no more is desired.

Hebrew: saba [saw-bah’]: satisfy [47], fill [25], full [15], plenty [2], enough [2], satiate [1], sufficed [1], unstiable[1]. or sabea`, saw-bay-ah; a primitive root; to sate, i.e. fill to satisfaction (literal or figurative): - have enough, fill (full, self, with), have plenty of, be satiate, satisfied (with), suffice, be weary of. Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary. śābaʿ often expresses God's "satisfying, supplying," man with his material needs: "… Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's" (Psa. 103:5). But even when God "fed them to the full," Israel was not satisfied and went after strange gods (Jer. 5:7). Used in parallelism with "to enrich" in Ezek. 27:33, śābaʿ implies something of enriching as well: " śābaʿ expresses the idea of "being filled, sated" Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words.

One of the great lessons of life is to determine what is enough or better Biblically said, when am I to be content and in a place of peace over the things I do, have and accomplish. Many a man will sacrifice his family, marriage, friendships and the like for the plight of gaining more wealth or spending even more time at the workplace.

So, what is the idea of satisfaction or contentment to you? Will you run over the top of an individual to gain some sort of advantage or wealth? Will you lie and deceive to gain attention or promotion no matter who the person involved. How about the world of occupation or advancement, what will you do and how far will you allow yourself to fall to get your satisfaction off the back of an employee or working colleague.

Also, in this idea of satisfaction, how far do you go to get what you want with total disregard to what someone else wants, even to the point of stealing, lying or deceiving. Can you be trusted with wealth and responsibility. Do you do things that please you despite the thievery and corruption involved with doing your own thing and not what is expected of you by the one who pays your salary or wages. This goes on in the market place all day long and most folks have their justification to steal or to take time being paid for by someone else. Maybe playing on the computer when the Holy Spirit says no but you ignore that voice and settle into a world of thief-dome and compromise, all the time wondering why you can’t get ahead in life.

Brother and sister, promotion does not come from the east or the west, but from the Lord and He is not in the business of rewarding and satisfying what is wrong or sinful. We must trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and He will take over and make us satisfied and then and only then will we find true happiness and joy and a sense of accomplishment.
