Early Bird Day at Burley School

Friday, August 19th

8:30am-6:00pm

We hope you had a great summer and we can't wait to see all of our Burley friends at Early Bird Day this Friday!

8:30-9:30am ONLY meet teacher and visit classrooms

8:30am-6pm - complete or submit forms and fees, drop off supplies

We treasure the opportunity for students and families to be able to visit the school and their classroom, meet the teacher, and drop off their supplies in the classroom early so they don't have to bring them on the 1st day of school.

Note: If you are not able to attend the open house from 8:30-9:30, you can still come by anytime between 8:30am-6:00pm to drop off school supplies (labeled with student name and teacher name in a bag that will not be returned) and we will get them to the classroom BUT you will not be able to visit the classroom at that time. It will just be a supply drop off.

Please escort your children to their classrooms, drop off supplies, and meet your teachers. Enter the school using the East Doors (main entrance) only.

To make your Early Bird Day visit as smooth as possible, please plan to do one of the following options:

1) Complete forms electronically and sign with original signatures and submit electronically by uploading on Google form HERE

2) Complete forms at home, print and sign, and turn them in at Burley on Early Bird Day

3) Come to Burley on Early Bird Day and complete paper forms in person

While at Early Bird Day:

  • Drop off your school supplies in your child's classroom (outside the classroom after 9:30am).
  • Pay the Student Fee of $125 per student (pay in advance using Epay electronically or can pay at Early Bird Day in cash)
  • Complete or turn in the Family Income Form (CPS budgeting requirement)
  • Complete or turn in the Media Release Form
  • Purchase a limited addition Burley Gear t-shirt!

If you are unable to come to Early Bird Day, no worries. Your child can bring their school supplies on the first day of school and parents can pay their fees electronically in Epay and submit paperwork electronically to the above Google form link in advance OR drop off or complete forms in the South Lunchroom at 8:15 the first week of school.

Beginning of Year Forms, Fees and Documents

Unfortunately we will not be able to offer the docusign option this year for beginning for the year forms, but we ARE able to provide the forms electronically for completion, or you can complete paper forms at Early Bird Day or the first week of school.

Please ensure that you read through this communication thoroughly, as it includes important information about annual registration paperwork (a different process from enrollment), the school fee, and the Registration packet information.

To limit trips to the school, passing back and forth important documents, and streamlining the beginning of year process, Burley’s annual student registration process can be conducted online or in person at Early Bird Day. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for us to have updated and accurate contact information to ensure you are receiving communications from both Burley and Chicago Public Schools (telephone, email, home address). Please check your child/ren's Aspen parent portal accounts and confirm that this information is accurate (including apartment numbers, email addresses, etc) to ensure that you receive emails and important mailings that are mailed out from CPS make it to your correct residence instead of being returned.

Families with children returning to Burley School for the 2022-2023 school year must complete this annual registration process for each of their children.

FIRST: REVIEW DOCUMENTS

Read through the Burley specific packet of documents attached below. These include:

SECOND: PAY SCHOOL FEE

Pay the School Year 2022-23 $125 per student school fee by clicking HERE (choosing to make a one time payment) using our online Epay system which is also located on the school website at burley.cps.edu and can be located by clicking on the Parents tab at the top of the website and then click on the Pay Fees tab on right side button to pay fees.

In the Epay system, choose to make a 1 time payment, fill out the student information and click on the student fee bar. Then click the drop down to pay the $125 student fee option. (student ID number can be found in the student's Aspen account, on report cards, progress reports, etc. If you can't find the student ID number reach out to Celi Aviles [email protected] or call 773-534-5475). If you have multiple children that attend Burley you can build a "cart" and check out all at once in the end for one transaction.

Note: We are continuing to utilize these school fee funds to supplement staffing costs, staff professional development, instructional supplies and materials, furniture, equipment and contracts (health classes, copiers, etc) and more. We rely on these funds and appreciate your effort to pay the fee. If financially you are unable to pay at this time in full or have questions about student fees, please email Ms. Aviles at [email protected] so we can get back to you about your individual needs.

THIRD: REGISTRATION PACKET

Complete the Registration Packet items listed below. (any newly enrolled students for the 2022-23 school year already completed this packet at enrollment.)

NOTE: all forms must have an original signature, electronic signatures cannot be accepted. Please either 1) complete and print, sign and submit electronically HERE OR 2) complete on paper copy and turn in at Burley on Early Bird Day or the first day of school.

  • Fill out the Emergency Contact Form  (one completed for each Burley student). It is extremely important that we have emergency contact information for each student on the first day of school. Therefore, the Early Bird process will require that all parents arrive on August 22nd having completed OR ready to complete the Emergency Contact Form.
  • Print and fill out these two forms (blank forms will also be available at Early Bird Day).
  • Media Release Form (one completed for each Burley student).
  • CPS Family Income Form (one completed per household)

As always, if you have questions or need more information don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to help.
