Calm Before the Storm in Tallahassee?

Week eight of the 2026 legislative session was relatively quiet except for the Senate's "Medical Freedom" legislation (SB 1756) which, if passes, could allow a vaccine conscious objection for school aged children. However, the House of Representatives has not taken up companion legislation (HB 917) and, according to Speaker Perez, they do not intend to this late in the process. Three FAFP leaders and residents had front row seats to see this and more unfold while serving as Doctor of the Day last week.
