Lauri Genesio,

Lauri graduated from the Scherer Institute (SFSOM) in 2004, after studying at the Ohashi Institute of Chicago (now Zen Shiatsu Chicago) and Mi Zai Shiatsu. Both schools, rooted in the theory and practice of Zen Shiatsu, established by Shizuto Masunaga and Wataru Ohashi, teach practitioners a meditative quality of practice to observe, detect, and listen for how a treatment is going step by step. Lauri became an instructor at SFSOM in 2005, teaching an introductory Zen Shiatsu and Five Element course. In 2010/11, she assisted and taught at HeartMind Bodywork in Boulder, founded by Matthew Sweigart, formerly the director of the Ohashi Institute of Chicago. She currently offers CE classes at SFSOM, and is a student of Medical Qigong at the Red Thread Institute in California. Lauri lives in Santa Fe, maintains a private practice, and works at Mandala Medicine,
an Acupuncture clinic.

Maruan Fahkuri,

Maruan is originally from Munich, Germany, and is a German registered naturopath for Psychotherapy, with his master's degree in Social Work. He has more than 15 years experience in bodywork with in-depth trainings in Shiatsu, PsychoDynamic Body and Energywork (Biodynamic, Gestalt and Postural Integration) and Breath Therapy by Herta Richter. He graduated from the European Shiatsu Institute which is rooted in the theory and practice of Masunaga Shiatsu (Zen Shiatsu) and where he was then invited to join the faculty. He has been a Shiatsu Teacher with the Institute since 2006 and continues to offer courses in Europe. In 2012 he became licensed as Massage Therapist in New Mexico, where he maintains a private practice of therapeutic bodywork and works
at Bluelotus - Integrative Healing Arts clinic, Santa Fe. In 2014, he joined SFSOM, assisting and teaching in the Zen Shiatsu program.
