TasveerTV Pick of the Week:

Drawn From Life

TasveerTV Pick of the Week selection was 'Drawn From Life'. We had the pleasure of conducting a live interview with the director, Adrienne Von Wolffersdorff. Watch the recording of the live interview on Instagram.

'Drawn From Life' has garnered numerous accolades, including an Official Selection at Tasveer Film Festival 2018 and an Official Selection at Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival 2019. This documentary tells the story of Raj, a talented artist who uses his drawings as a way to share his experiences with mental illness. After struggling with depression and anxiety for years, Raj is now returning to his artwork with a renewed sense of purpose and connection to his faith and family.

'The Joyous Farmer' now on TasveerTV!

'The Joyous Farmer' is a highly acclaimed film that won Best Short Film, Jaffna International Cinema Festival 2016, Best Narrative Short, Chicago Amarcord Arthouse Television & Video fest awards and was an official selection at Bucharest ShortCut CineFest in 2017. The film is directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Hiran Balasuriya.

Set in the drylands of Southern Sri Lanka, ‘The Joyous Farmer’ tells the tale of Ratnapala, an impoverished farmer who has given way to addictions of several kinds in order to take some kind of pleasure in life
