Principal's Corner
With fall in full swing, we are excited about our enrichment activities for our students. The field trip to Joan’s Farm gave everyone an opportunity to pick their pumpkins, feed the animals, and have hands-on experiences that we read about in the classroom. Thank you to the families who were able to come and provide support.
Spirit week culminated in having CSD’s littlest eagles parade through the campus and in the gym during the pep rally. The rest of the CSD community were awed by their wings and smiles!
We will be hosting our annual harvest festival on Thursday, October 27th and then CSD’s Open House is on Friday, November 11th. There will be family tours as well as activities from Habitot Children’s Museum for our ECE students. ECE will be fundraising to support our program. If you’d like to donate food for us to sell and/or volunteer to help at our table, please reach out to Rita Ribera ritaribera@csdf-cde.ca.gov.
Our next field trip will be to Ardenwood Farm on Thursday, November 17th.

Rincón del Director
Con el otoño en pleno apogeo, estamos entusiasmados con nuestras actividades de enriquecimiento para nuestros estudiantes. El viaje de campo a la granja de Joan le dio a todos la oportunidad de recoger sus calabazas, alimentar a los animales y tener experiencias prácticas que leímos en el aula. Gracias a las familias que pudieron venir y brindar apoyo.
La semana del espíritu culminó con el desfile de las águilas más pequeñas de CSD por el campus y en el gimnasio durante el mitin de ánimo. ¡El resto de la comunidad de CSD quedó impresionada por sus alas y sonrisas!
Organizaremos nuestro festival anual de la cosecha el jueves 27th de octubre y luego la Casa Abierta de CSD será el viernes 11th de noviembre. Habrá giras familiares así como actividades del Museo de los Niños de Habitot para nuestros estudiantes de ECE. ECE estará recaudando fondos para apoyar nuestro programa. Si desea donar alimentos para vender y/o ofrecernos como voluntarios para ayudar en nuestra mesa, por favor contacte a Rita Ribera ritaribera-csdf-cde.ca.gov.

The Toddler Class, Butterflies and Caterpillars, have started their exploration of the book, Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin. We will look at pumpkins of different shapes colors and sizes. We will even look inside to see how pumpkins look, feel, and smell. And, be on the lookout for our Pumpkin Patch mural.

La clase de los niños pequeños, las mariposas y las orugas, han comenzado su exploración del libro, el pato y el ganso encuentran una calabaza. October is a busy month. We spent our time finishing up our color unit. We read many books, played with different color play-doh, paint and markers. We made various craft projects while your child also had time to explore art on their own, using their imaginations. We also went on weekly walks around campus to look for different colors in the environment. Not only did your child learn colors but we focused on ASL handshapes through rhythm and rhyme. This is a fun and interactive way to support their ASL skills and build their vocabulary. As we end the month of October we will begin our fall theme and learn about apples and pumpkins. Thank you to all of our families for your continued support to make this a wonderful school year. Wishing you all the best.

Octubre fue un mes ocupado. Pasamos nuestro tiempo terminando nuestra unidad de color. Leímos muchos libros, jugamos con plastilina de diferentes colores, pintura y marcadores. Hicimos varios proyectos de manualidades mientras su hijo también tuvo tiempo de explorar el arte por su cuenta, usando su imaginación. También hacíamos caminatas semanales por el campus para buscar diferentes colores en el ambiente. Su hijo no solo aprendió los colores, sino que nos enfocamos en las formas manuales de ASL a través del ritmo y la rima. Esta es una forma divertida e interactiva de apoyar sus habilidades de ASL y desarrollar su vocabulario. Al finalizar el mes de octubre, comenzaremos nuestro tema de otoño y aprenderemos sobre manzanas y calabazas. Gracias a todas nuestras familias por su continuo apoyo para hacer de este un maravilloso año escolar. Le deseamos todo lo mejor.

Hello families! Extra! Extra! Read all about our field trip to Joann’s Farm last week! We had so much fun petting and feeding the goats and donkeys! We rode the train, jumped in the bouncing slide, and ran around in a corn maze. This week, we had our special Harvest Festival; we played games, enjoyed the ball pit, played dress up and explored our pumpkins in our own pumpkin patch! We have been focusing on apples for the last two weeks (how they grow, color, shape, size) and next week we will start to explore the exciting world of pumpkins!

¡Hola familias! ¡Extra! ¡Extra! ¡Lea todo sobre nuestra excursión a la Granja de Joann la semana pasada! ¡Nos divertimos mucho acariciando y alimentando a las cabras y burros! Montamos en el tren, saltamos en el tobogán que rebota y corrimos en un laberinto de maíz. Esta semana, tuvimos nuestro Festival de la Cosecha especial; ¡Jugamos, disfrutamos de la piscina de pelotas, jugamos a disfrazarnos y exploramos nuestras calabazas en nuestro propio huerto de calabazas! ¡Nos hemos estado enfocando en las manzanas durante las últimas dos semanas (cómo crecen, color, forma, tamaño) y la próxima semana comenzaremos a explorar el emocionante mundo de las calabazas!

Kindergarten has been going through a lot of changes and transitions the last few months. We are so thankful to the families for their support and to the amazing resilience of each child in class. We are in the swing of things now and there is no stopping our SUPER students. Over the past few months, we have been working on the alphabet, counting and writing numbers, learning about trees and plants, learning about ourselves/families/friends. We have welcomed many new students to Kindergarten this year and we are thrilled to have each of them at CSD. Go Little Eagles!

El kindergarten ha estado pasando por muchos cambios y transiciones en los últimos meses. Estamos muy agradecidos a las familias por su apoyo y por la increíble capacidad de recuperación de cada niño en clase. Estamos en el columpio de las cosas ahora y no hay que parar a nuestros SUPER Estudiantes.Durante los últimos meses, hemos estado trabajando en el alfabeto, contando y escribiendo números, aprendiendo sobre árboles y plantas, aprendiendo sobre nosotros mismos/familias/amigos. Hemos dado la bienvenida a muchos estudiantes nuevos a Kindergarten este año y estamos encantados de tener a cada uno de ellos en CSD. ¡Aguilas pequeñas!

Hello! As we head into November, I want to let you know what a joy it has been working with and seeing your children grow over the past few months. By now, you should have received the ZONES packet and I hope you find the flashcards and mini posters useful to have at home. I will host another zoom drop-in session in early December that will review the ZONES and suggestions for how to use them at home. It will be set at a later time than the recent one. You are always welcome to contact me by email anytime.
PS: Kindergarten families: ask your child about personal space and what it means. we've been discussing this topic lately.

Hola! A medida que nos dirigimos a noviembre, quiero que sepan con qué alegría ha estado trabajando y ver a sus hijos crecer en los últimos meses. Por ahora, usted debería haber recibido el paquete DE ZONAS y espero que encuentre las tarjetas y los mini carteles útiles para tener en casa. Celebraré otra sesión de acercamiento de ZOOM a principios de diciembre en la que se revisarán las ZONAS y sugerencias sobre cómo utilizarlas en casa. Se establecerá en un momento posterior al reciente. Siempre le invitamos a ponerse en contacto conmigo por correo electrónico en cualquier momento.

Helpful Tips When Participating in ECE Field Trips
Helpful tips on how to feel actively involved when joining your child at their school field trips- finding the balance between attending to your own child while also helping staff keep all other classmates safe, engaged, and under control.
COME PREPARED: Before the trip, discuss the itinerary or logistics if possible with your child’s teacher. Pay for admission (when applicable) prior to children’s arrival.
BE FOCUSED: Our primary concern is to make sure the children are safe and attentively participating. Refrain from discussing your child’s progress or other irrelevant topics with the teacher during the trip. Assist staff with getting children’s attention through hand waving and/or tapping of the shoulders to direct their attention to the signer.
ESTABLISH RAPPORT: Become familiar with your child’s teachers and classmates’ name signs. Make every effort to sign at all times when in front of children and families. Ask staff and/or other families to model signs if needed. Staff are always more than happy to model new or unfamiliar signs.
HELP TEACH: Your enthusiasm and interest may be infectious . Engage the children through modeling by participating in the activities along with the children. Compliment the children on positive behaviors. Most importantly of all, have fun!

Consejos útiles sobre cómo sentirse activamente implicado al unirse a su hijo en las excursiones escolares: Encontrar el equilibrio entre atender a su propio hijo y ayudar al personal a mantener a todos los compañeros seguros y comprometidos. y bajo control.
