Principal's Corner

As I write this message, there are a lot of uncertainties in our world. There are wars, conflicts, or threats of conflicts on almost every continent. There is oppression and a climate crisis that humans have the power to change. This can all be discouraging and overwhelming and yet, when I look at our students every day, I see one thing: Hope.

Hope because the ECE staff are providing your child with language opportunities that provide them with access to the world around them.

Hope because they are learning, through social-emotional learning that we take care of ourselves, we take care of each other, we take care of our school, and we take care of our world. You'll find these signs throughout the ECE building as gentle reminders that through our actions, we can make a difference.

Hope because not only are your children learning from our incredible staff about reading, writing, math, science and social studies, they are exposed to our communities through field trips and hands-on activities.

Hope because Dr. Jane Goodall has said that her greatest reason for hope is our young people. Each day, when I see your children learning, experiencing, and thriving here at ECE, it gives me hope that they have the tools they need to make a difference.

Mientras escribo este mensaje, hay muchas incertidumbres en nuestro mundo. Hay guerras, conflictos o amenazas de conflictos en casi todos los continentes. Hay opresión y una crisis climática que los humanos tienen el poder de cambiar. Todo esto puede ser desalentador y abrumador y, sin embargo, cuando miro a nuestros estudiantes todos los días, veo una cosa: esperanza.

Esperanza porque el personal de ECE le está brindando a su hijo oportunidades lingüísticas que le brindan acceso al mundo que lo rodea.

Esperanza porque están aprendiendo, a través del aprendizaje socioemocional, que nos cuidamos, nos cuidamos unos a otros, cuidamos nuestra escuela y cuidamos nuestro mundo. Encontrará estos carteles en todo el edificio de ECE como amables recordatorios de que, a través de nuestras acciones, podemos marcar la diferencia.

Esperanza porque sus hijos no solo están aprendiendo de nuestro increíble personal sobre lectura, escritura, matemáticas, ciencias y estudios sociales, sino que también están expuestos a nuestras comunidades a través de excursiones y actividades prácticas.

Esperanza porque la Dra. Jane Goodall ha dicho que su mayor motivo de esperanza son nuestros jóvenes. Cada día, cuando veo a sus hijos aprendiendo, experimentando y prosperando aquí en ECE, me da esperanza de que tengan las herramientas que necesitan para marcar la diferencia.

School Attendance

If your child is away for any reason, please contact the eceoffice@csdf-cde.ca.gov as well as the teachers. It’s important to do this each day that they will not be here.

Early Start/Comienzo Temprano

In the toddler class we are making friends, taking turns, making choices, and having fun. Everyone is growing and learning. We are exploring the book, Duck and Goose Find a Pumpkin. We are finding pumpkins everywhere! We found pumpkins on our walk, on the shelf hiding under boxes, at the water table, and Joann found a BIG pumpkin in the library during our story time!

We are asking questions about pumpkins like, are they small or big? Orange? White? Do some of them look alike and some of them look different? Are they smooth or bumpy? We can't wait for our fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch!

En la clase de niños pequeños hacemos amigos, nos turnamos, tomamos decisiones y nos divertimos. Todos están creciendo y aprendiendo. Estamos explorando el libro El pato y el ganso encuentran una calabaza. ¡Estamos encontrando calabazas por todas partes! Encontramos calabazas en nuestro paseo, en el estante escondidas debajo de las cajas, en el nivel freático, ¡y Joann encontró una calabaza GRANDE en la biblioteca durante nuestra hora de cuentos!

Estamos haciendo preguntas sobre las calabazas como, ¿son pequeñas o grandes? ¿Naranja? ¿Blanco? ¿Algunos de ellos se parecen y otros se ven diferentes? ¿Son lisos o con baches? ¡Estamos ansiosos por nuestra excursión al huerto de calabazas!

PreSchool/Preescolar

Preschool has been very busy reading stories, going on nature walks around the school campus, painting, and getting very messy! Preschool aged children learn best through play, we spend less time sitting and more time playing inside and outside of the classroom. We have started learning about fall; pumpkins, leaves, and trees. We have been exploring their shapes, textures, and colors.

El preescolar ha estado muy ocupado leyendo cuentos, dando paseos por la naturaleza por el campus de la escuela, pintando y ensuciándose mucho. Los niños en edad preescolar aprenden mejor jugando, pasamos menos tiempo sentados y más tiempo jugando dentro y fuera del aula. Hemos empezado a aprender sobre el otoño; calabazas, hojas y árboles. Hemos estado explorando sus formas, texturas y colores.

PreKindergarten

The PK class is jumping into the Fall season with knowledge of Apples and Pumpkins! We learned how Apples and Pumpkins grow from seeds and that they make yummy treats! The PK students made apple muffins and got to enjoy them during snack time. For learning centers, we were in awe of how many bears needed to equal the weight of an Apple, and are currently learning the cross down and across letters such as H, I, T, and L. We are so excited about going to the Pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin to study for the rest of month!

¡La clase de PK está entrando en la temporada de otoño con conocimientos sobre manzanas y calabazas! ¡Aprendimos cómo las manzanas y las calabazas crecen a partir de semillas y que son deliciosas delicias! Los estudiantes de PK hicieron muffins de manzana y pudieron disfrutarlos durante la merienda. En el caso de los centros de aprendizaje, nos sorprendió saber cuántos osos se necesitaban para igualar el peso de una manzana, y actualmente estamos aprendiendo a cruzar letras como H, I, T y L. Estamos muy emocionados de ir a los ¡Huele calabazas y elige una calabaza para estudiar durante el resto del mes!

Kindergarten

Kindergarten has been learning about fish! Students completed many observations of their classroom goldfish and guppies. They learned about their body parts, what they need to survive, how they move, and even compared how goldfish and guppies are similar and different. Our Kindergarteners enjoy taking turns feeding the fish each morning and watching them swim around during the day. We wrapped up our unit with a trip to the San Francisco Aquarium of the Bay! Kindergarten has also been learning about Families. Our students learned about their families and others! They each made a family flag to celebrate who they love.

¡El clase de Kindergarten ha estado aprendiendo sobre los peces! Los estudiantes completaron muchas observaciones de los peces dorados y guppies de su salón de clases. Aprendieron sobre las partes de su cuerpo, lo que necesitan para sobrevivir, cómo se mueven e incluso compararon en qué se parecen y se diferencian los peces dorados y los guppies. Nuestros estudiantes disfrutan turnándose para alimentar a los peces cada mañana y verlos nadar durante el día. ¡Terminamos nuestra unidad con un viaje al Acuario de la Bahía de San Francisco! El clase también ha estado aprendiendo sobre las familias. ¡Nuestros estudiantes aprendieron sobre sus familias y otras personas! Cada uno hizo una bandera familiar para celebrar a quienes aman.
