Principal's Corner

On behalf of the ECE department, we are excited to welcome all of our new and returning families. It has been a joy to see the smiles of your children each day. 

You may have gotten the message that CSD (and ECE!) is ready to SOAR into the 2022-2023 school year. We want all our students and families to Strive for Opportunities, Aim for Results (SOAR). Specifically, in ECE, we commit ourselves to the following 5 pillars: 

• Family Engagement: This goes beyond a one-way communication between ECE and families. We want to listen and learn from each of you so that we can work together to support your children. 

• Kindness is Contagious: The inspirational quote, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind” makes us want to acknowledge kindness, stand up for others, and taking time to provide support.  

• Giving Grace: For each of us, we recognize that some things may happen that impact a given mood for the day. We try not to make any assumptions, be empathetic, and offer support.

• Promoting Positivity: We want to foster a positive work environment that supports a positive learning environment. We can do this by starting each day with a smile, frequent check-ins, and celebrating even the little things! 

• No Surprises: We want to communicate as much as possible whether it be for events, your child’s progress, or upcoming changes to the calendar.  

We are excited to welcome you to ECE for the upcoming Back to School Nights: 

Tuesday, September 6th @ 6:00 pm for Kindergarten (in person) 

Wednesday, September 7th @ 6:00 pm Pre-K (in person) 

Thursday, September 8th @ 6:00 pm Preschool (in person) 

Toddlers (via zoom) 

Please RSVP your attendance to the ece office (eceoffice@csdf-cde.ca.gov) to let us know you’ll be here! In addition, we will be hosting Zoom drop-in sessions with the Principal, the Student Support Liaison, and your child’s teachers. More information will be shared soon! En nombre del departamento de ECE, nos complace dar la bienvenida a todas nuestras familias nuevas y que regresan. Ha sido una alegría ver las sonrisas de sus hijos cada día.

Usted puede haber recibido el mensaje de que CSD (¡y ECE!) Está listo PARA VOLAR en el año escolar 2022-2023-08. Queremos que todos nuestros estudiantes y familias se esfuercen por obtener oportunidades, apunten a los resultados (SOAR). Concretamente, en la CEPE nos comprometemos a cumplir los siguientes 5 pilares:

• Compromiso familiar: Esto va más allá de una comunicación unidireccional entre ECE y las familias. Queremos escuchar y aprender de cada uno de ustedes para que podamos trabajar juntos para apoyar a sus hijos.

• La bondad es contagiosa: La cita inspiradora, "En un mundo donde puedes ser cualquier cosa, sé amable" nos hace querer reconocer la bondad, defender a los demás y tomarnos el tiempo para brindar apoyo.

• Dar Gracia: Para cada uno de nosotros, reconocemos que algunas cosas pueden suceder que afectan un estado de ánimo determinado para el día. Tratamos de no hacer suposiciones, ser empáticos y ofrecer apoyo.

• Promover la positividad: Queremos fomentar un ambiente de trabajo positivo que apoye un ambiente de aprendizaje positivo. Podemos hacerlo empezando cada día con una sonrisa, registrándonos con frecuencia y celebrando incluso las pequeñas cosas.

• Sin sorpresas: Queremos comunicarnos tanto como sea posible, ya sea para eventos, el progreso de su hijo o los próximos cambios en el calendario.

Nos complace darle la bienvenida a ECE para las próximas Noches de Regreso a la Escuela:

¡Por favor RSVP su asistencia a la oficina de ece (eceoffice-csdf-cde.ca.gov) para informarnos que estará aquí! Además, estaremos organizando sesiones de acceso directo con el Director, el Enlace de Apoyo Estudiantil y los maestros de su hijo. ¡Más información será compartida pronto! Esperamos que estén tan emocionados con el nuevo año escolar como nosotros. Por favor, póngase en contacto con nosotros si tiene alguna pregunta.

Shoes! Because children are out on the playground and/or going to the gym for Physical Education, we suggest that all students wear sneakers or shoes that have a back.  

Pick up and drop off: 

Students can be dropped off after 7:45 a.m. Families or district transportation can use the drive through near our playground by pulling all the way to the front. Staff will meet you at your car and escort your child to the playground. If you plan to walk with your child to the playground, we ask that you please park your car in the parking lot and escort them to the playground.  

Students must be picked up at the end of their class (11:30, 12:30 2:30). We will have the drive-through available for pick up. When you pull into the drive-through, a staff member will escort your child from the playground to the car. 

Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the drive-through. This creates a hazard for the cars pulling up behind you!

¡Calzado! Debido a que los niños están en el patio de recreo y / o van al gimnasio para Educación Física, sugerimos que todos los estudiantes usen zapatillas o zapatos que tengan la espalda.

Recogida y entrega:

Los estudiantes pueden ser dejados después de las 7:45 a.m. Las familias o el transporte del distrito pueden usar el viaje cerca de nuestro patio de recreo tirando hasta el frente. El personal le recogerá en su coche y acompañará a su hijo al patio de recreo. Si planea caminar con su hijo al parque infantil, le pedimos que por favor estacione su coche en el aparcamiento y lo acompañe al parque infantil.

Los estudiantes deben ser recogidos al final de su clase (11:30, 12:30 2:30). Tendremos el auto-través disponible para recogida. Cuando entre en el paseo en auto, un miembro del personal acompañará a su hijo desde el patio de recreo hasta el coche.

Por favor, no deje su vehículo desatendido en el camino. ¡Esto crea un peligro para los autos que se detienen detrás de ti! 

Hello Preschool families! 

We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. Wow! We can’t believe we are already beginning our third week of preschool. The first week of school we focused on getting to know each other and classroom routines. Our second week, we started our color unit. We learned about the color “RED”. We will be learning one color a week for the next ten weeks. Knowing colors is the precursor for developing math skills. Everyday your child is learning language in a fully immersive, bilingual, language rich environment. ASL (American Sign Language) is made up of 5 parameters: handshape, palm orientation, movement, location, and expression/non-manual signals. 

We will be learning a different handshape each week; one of the 5 parameters of ASL. Learning appropriate handshapes in ASL will help create a strong language foundation and support expanding their vocabulary in English and ASL. We are looking forward to a fantastic school year!

Hola familias de preescolar!

Estamos encantados de darle la bienvenida al año escolar 2022-2023. ¡Guau! No podemos creer que ya estemos comenzando nuestra tercera semana de preescolar. La primera semana de clases nos enfocamos en conocernos unos a otros y en las rutinas del salón de clases. En nuestra segunda semana, comenzamos nuestra unidad de color. Aprendimos sobre el color “ROJO”. Aprenderemos un color a la semana durante las próximas diez semanas. Conocer los colores es el precursor para desarrollar habilidades matemáticas. Todos los días su hijo está aprendiendo el idioma en un ambiente completamente inmersivo, bilingüe y rico en idiomas. ASL (Lenguaje Americano de Signos) se compone de 5 parámetros: Forma de la mano, orientación de la palma, movimiento, ubicación y señales de expresión/no manuales. Aprenderemos una forma de mano diferente cada semana; uno de los 5 parámetros del ASL. El aprendizaje de formas apropiadas en ASL ayudará a crear una base sólida del lenguaje y a apoyar la expansión de su vocabulario en inglés y ASL. ¡Esperamos un año escolar fantástico!

Hello Everyone!

We are so excited for this year's Pre-K Class!!! These first two weeks of school have been fantastic, and we are off to a great start. We are so impressed and proud of our students: they are adapting so quickly to the classroom, the daily schedule and activities, learning to play together and the rules of our classroom. We had our first trip to the library and the children were mesmerized by the place: it's a "jungle" to explore, watching our librarian, Joann Ikeda, sign a story and we got to borrow our very own books! We were busy painting, learning our numbers, shapes and letters these last two weeks, as well as using our imaginations as we played and made animal masks. We are looking forward to what is in store in the coming months. Here's to a bright, creative and imaginative school year!

Hola a todos!

Estamos muy entusiasmados con la clase Pre-K de este año. Estas dos primeras semanas de escuela han sido fantásticas, y estamos a un gran comienzo. Estamos muy impresionados y orgullosos de nuestros estudiantes: Ellos se están adaptando tan rápidamente al salón de clases, al horario diario y a las actividades, aprendiendo a jugar juntos y a las reglas de nuestro salón de clases. Tuvimos nuestro primer viaje a la biblioteca y los niños quedaron fascinados por el lugar: Es una jungla para explorar, viendo a nuestra bibliotecaria, Joann Ikeda, firmar una historia y ¡tuvimos que pedir prestados nuestros propios libros! Estábamos ocupados pintando, aprendiendo nuestros números, formas y letras estas dos últimas semanas, así como usando nuestra imaginación mientras jugábamos y hacíamos máscaras de animales. Esperamos con impaciencia lo que nos espera en los próximos meses. ¡Aquí está a un año escolar brillante, creativo e imaginativo!

The Kindergarten Team is thrilled to see our number of students grow this year. We are excited to have so many returning faces and new ones. The children have been enjoying making friends with the large group.  

We are excited to meet families at Back to School Night on September 6.  

We can't wait to make Kindergarten memories with your children!

El Equipo de Kindergarten está encantado de ver crecer nuestro número de estudiantes este año. Estamos emocionados de tener tantas caras y caras nuevas que vuelven. Los niños han estado disfrutando haciendo amigos con el grupo grande.

Estamos emocionados de conocer a las familias en la Noche de Regreso a la Escuela el 6 de septiembre.

Handle with Care

If your family is experiencing difficulties at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that you are not always able to share details and that's okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning or weekend, please email us (mbibb@csdf-cde.ca.gov) or (mberke@csdf-cde.ca.gov) "Handle with Care." Nothing else will be said or asked. This will let us know that your child may need extra time, patience, or help during the day.

Manejar con cuidado

Si su familia tiene dificultades en casa, nos gustaría proporcionarle apoyo adicional en la escuela. Entendemos que no siempre puede compartir los detalles y eso está bien. Si su hijo(a) viene a la escuela después de una noche, mañana o fin de semana difícil, por favor envíenos un correo electrónico 

(mbibb-csdf-cde.ca.gov) o (mberke-csdf-cde.ca.gov) "Maneja con cuidado". No se dirá ni se preguntará nada más. Esto nos hará saber que su hijo puede necesitar tiempo extra, paciencia o ayuda durante el día.
