About the Program

The number of cases per courtroom in Los Angeles Superior Court has nearly doubled in the last 10 years from an average of 443 cases in December 2014 to 847 in December 2023. While 98% settle before trial, most will incur time-consuming and expensive discovery, motions, and trial preparation before settling. Our court system and our clients are drowning. What can we do? Bruce Clemens and Sid Kanazawa believe we need to rethink our approach. Traditional advocacy sometimes undermines the essential ingredient needed to resolve our disputes – trust. They will share their experiences on how early mediations can help build the trust needed to provide just, speedy, and inexpensive determinations in the disputes that currently overwhelm our courtrooms and our clients.

This program is presented by the Alternative Dispute Resolution section chaired by Jeffrey Kravitz and Robert M. Cohen Find out more at www.bhba.org.
