Village Advances Review of Downtown TIF District

Earlier this week, the Village of Antioch Joint Review Board (JRB) met at Village Hall to review the proposed Downtown Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District. Following a presentation by SB Friedman Development Advisors, the JRB voted to recommend approval of creating the Downtown TIF District.

The proposed TIF District would provide an important tool to support reinvestment in Downtown Antioch, covering 203 parcels and approximately 108 acres in and around downtown. The redevelopment plan is designed to help address infrastructure needs, building conditions, and redevelopment barriers that can make private investment more difficult.

The next step is a public hearing on Thursday, November 12, 2026. Community members, property owners, businesses, and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend, learn more about the proposed plan, and share their input.

Earlier this month, the Village released the Downtown TIF District eligibility report and redevelopment plan for public review. Learn more here.

Trick or Treat

Halloween is just around the corner, and families are invited to enjoy trick-or-treating on Saturday, October 31, from 3 to 7 p.m.

To help make the evening safe for everyone, children should carry flashlights or glow sticks, wear costumes with reflective tape, use sidewalks whenever possible, and look both ways before crossing streets. Trick-or-treaters should also only visit homes with illuminated porch lights to indicate participation. With a few simple precautions, everyone can enjoy a safe and happy Halloween!

Treat the Streets

& Fall Fest

Costumes, candy and autumn festivities take center stage in downtown Antioch on Saturday, October 24! The day starts with Treat the Streets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., where children can dress up and collect treats at participating local businesses in the downtown.

The celebration continues at Harvest Fall Fest from noon to
4 p.m. at the
Bandshell. Attendees can enjoy hayrides, food vendors, contests and more. There will also be live country music from Icons of Country, a Zac Brown and Miranda Lambert tribute band, on stage from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Learn more here.

Early Learning Center for District 34

Last night, the Antioch Village Board approved a site plan review and special use request for District 34 to construct and operate an Early Learning Center on approximately 23 acres at the intersection of North Avenue and Tiffany Road. The special use approval is contingent upon several conditions that are expected to be formally approved at the next Village Board meeting.  District 34 presented an updated plan to the Village Board following its appearance before the Planning and Zoning Board in September. These conditions include addressing traffic concerns at Tiffany Road and Highview, at North Avenue and Trevor, and other traffic management tools. In addition to several other conditions, the agreement is also expected to include provisions for playground availability for residents. The Village Board anticipates finalizing the full agreement at its next meeting.

When completed, residents can expect a modern Early Learning Center that improves educational space for the District’s youngest students while helping create additional capacity in existing elementary schools.
