Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, Inc.

Dear VPK Proivders,
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING VPK ASSESSMENT KIT ORDERS

The Early Learning Coalition of Broward, Inc. (ELC) has been informed by the Office of Early Learning (OEL) that many of the VPK Assessment Kit orders (completed through the Bright Beginnings online ordering system) have not been fulfilled to date.  OEL is encouraging providers whenever possible to either utilize Assessment Period One (AP1) materials leftover from last year or click on the following link and print out the    PDF version of the AP1 response booklet.
In the e vent that you are not able to meet your deadline, please be aware that the Office of Early Leaning is working with each early learning coalition to ensure that providers whose unfilled orders impacted their ability to complete AP1, do not lose eligibility to offer the VPK Program as a result of these circumstances. While we do not have details about the solution at this time, we wanted to make sure you knew that we understand the situation and intend to address it in an appropriate way. You may contact OEL at (866) 447-1159 or by email at  vpkassessment@oel.myflorida.com should you have questions.  Feel free to also reach out to call or email ELC for further assistance at (954) 449-4341 or  ProviderPortal@elcbroward.org.
Thank you for your patience as OEL and the ELC work together to resolve this issue.  We are here to assist you in any way possible.
ADDITIONAL VPK INFORMATION
Please be sure to read the newly revised rule on VPK pre- and post- assessment through the Florida Administrative Code website found at  https://www.flrules.org/gateway/RuleNo.asp?title=Office of Early Learning - Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program&ID=6M-8.620
Additionally, there is no longer a distinction between providers on a traditional or non-traditional VPK schedule. The Florida VPK Assessment for AP1 must be administered by all VPK providers within the first thirty (30) calendar days of the VPK class schedule, beginning with the first VPK instructional day and including non-instructional days. For example, if you began your VPK program on August 22nd, the AP1 Assessments must be administered to the children by Sept. 20th. The data from these assessment must be entered and submitted by VPK providers on Bright Beginnings within forty-five (45) calendar days of the first day of each VPK class schedule. Scores for those programs that began on August 22nd must be entered and submitted by Oct. 5th.
Thank you and have a wonderful VPK year!
