2.) Butterfly Pediatrics Monthly Meeting – Tuesday, February 27th at 3:15pm
We have been having wonderful monthly sessions with our Partners at Butterfly Pediatrics this year as their experts join us virtually to answer your questions and give resources/ideas about behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations in your classrooms. Our next session is on Tuesday, February 27th at 3:15pm.
To make the most of our hour with them can you please email me at
david.mayer@seattlearch.org by Monday, February 26
th with any behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations you are dealing with that you would like the experts from Butterfly Pediatrics to discuss during the virtual meeting. I will be sending these case studies in advance to the Butterfly team so they can be prepared to give you as much information as possible during our time together. Even if you are not able to join the meeting, you can still submit situations and we will record the conversations and send a recording link. Also, please feel free to also send this information to your Kindergarten, 1
st and 2
nd grade teachers as they are now invited to these meetings as well! Thank you!

3.) Please send me your Early Learning Parent Handbook
Can you please email me your 23-24 Early Learning Parent Handbook. I catalogue them each year and spend time looking at different ways we communicate to parents on a variety of areas in our programs. Thank you!
4.) March Monthly Early Learning Professional Development: FLIP IT! Saturday, March 9th and 16th from 9:00am – 12:00pm
Our March monthly STARS training will be the very popular FLIP IT! training. It will be presented by Tracy Collins from ESD 112 and take place on two consecutive Saturday’s March 9th and March 16th from 9:00am – 12:00pm. You must attend both sessions and upon completion will receive 6 STARS hours.
FLIP IT is a four-step supportive strategy to help young children learn about their feelings, gain self-control, and reduce challenging behavior. FLIP IT! teaches adults how to respond positively to everyday challenges and challenging behaviors in children ages 3 to 8. 1. Learn how to respond positively to everyday challenges and challenging behaviors. 2. Become familiar with a four-step strategy used to help young children identify their feelings. 3. Help children learn healthy self-control and reduce challenging behaviors.
5.) Licensed ONLY – DCYF Equity Grant
The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is pleased to announce that the Early Childhood Equity Grant application is now available. This grant is intended to serve as a step toward expanding access to early learning statewide and transforming Washington's early learning system to make it more inclusive and equitable. The grant will support inclusive and culturally and linguistically specific early learning and early childhood and parent support programs across the state. This is a competitive grant and the application can be accessed through your provider portal. It is open until Friday, March 29th at 5:00pm. Please read through the grant manual carefully to understand the different ways these dollars can be used and please reach out with any questions.
6.) Licensed ONLY - Licensing “WAC” of the week: Promoting Acceptance of Diversity
This week’s WAC focus is promoting acceptance of diversity in your program. As the WAC reads: “An early learning provider must provide culturally and racially diverse learning opportunities. Diverse learning opportunities must be demonstrated by the provider's curriculum, activities, and materials that represent all children, families, and staff in their program”. The WAC goes on to detail the different ways this can be accomplished.
Have a great week!
