Please see the link below to register and please forward the link to the rest of the Early Learning staff at your program. I will also be sending an individual email to each of you that has the registration link and session guide. 2.) January Monthly Early Learning Professional Development: Nurturing Creativity: Embracing Child-Led Art and Celebrating the Process – Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
In January we will have two opportunities for Monthly Early Learning Professional Development. The second will be presented by Jesi Sucku from ESD 112. It takes place on Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and the focus will be on Embracing Child-Led Art and Celebrating the Process.
Is your goal to encourage children’s creativity through developmentally appropriate art experiences? Join us for a hands-on class that explores the importance of child-led, process art experiences over the standard arts and crafts activities of yesteryear.
3.) Butterfly Pediatrics Monthly Meeting – Tuesday, January 23rd at 3:15pm
We have been having wonderful monthly sessions with our Partners at Butterfly Pediatrics this year as their experts join us virtually to answer your questions and give resources/ideas about behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations in your classrooms. Our next session is on Tuesday, January 23rd at 3:15pm.
To make the most of our hour with them can you please email me at
david.mayer@seattlearch.org by Monday, January 22nd any behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations you are dealing with that you would like the experts from Butterfly Pediatrics to discuss during the virtual meeting. I will be sending these case studies in advance to the Butterfly team so they can be prepared to give you as much information as possible during our time together. Even if you are not able to join the meeting, you can still submit situations and we will record the conversations and send a recording link. Also, please feel free to also send this information to your Kindergarten, 1
st and 2
nd grade teachers as they are now invited to these meetings as well! Thank you!

4.) Kaymbu Online Screening and Assessment Tool Recording
Last year we developed a relationship with the Kaymbu platform, through Highscope to give you a potential option for your screening and Assessment needs. The cost for this tool is FREE and will be completely funded for your school by the Early Childhood Education fund started by Dick Abrams. It can be a great way to assess and track students, communicate with parents, use in PLC’s with the kindergarten teacher, prepare for conferences, ect. Last Thursday we hosted a session to learn more about the tool from Kaymbu Representatives. Below you will find a recording of that session as well as a link to get your school connected. If you want to get engaged with the platform this school year please opt in by January 31st. Please let me know if you have any questions.
5.) Principal Certification, and Educational Leadership Masters Programs
Please see message below from Kelly Surapaneni, Coordinator of Leadership Development if you are interested in learning more about administrative leadership positions.
Here are the universities we have cultivated a relationship with in Educational Leadership. Many of these programs have rolling admissions periods and a 50% discount for full-time Catholic educators in the Archdiocese of Seattle. All of the universities below operate on a cohort basis. This provides a network of fellow aspiring administrators to collaborate with while pursing the degree/certificate.
Click here to see the complete list of our partner universities websites, contact information and open house dates. Many of these programs have deadlines early in 2024.
If you would like to schedule a meeting with Kelly Surapaneni, Coordinator of Leadership Development, fill out this inquiring form: Aspiring Leaders Inquiry Form
6.) Licensed ONLY – Licensed Program Webinar: Cleaning and Sanitation AND Sleep and Rest
Please see the link below for the next Licensed Program Webinar that focuses on the last of the environment sections: Cleaning and Sanitation and Sleep and Rest. After watching the short video please let me know if you have any questions.
7.) Licensed ONLY - Licensing “WAC” of the week – Attendance Records
This week’s focus is on attendance records. The WAC highlights the number of hours a child can be in program, child attendance requirements (for paper or electronic) and staff attendance requirements (that’s right – staff need to sign-in and sign-out of their classrooms). This is one of the area’s licensors are concentrating on in their monitoring vists this year. Click on the link below to review this short WAC and let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!
