Registration for the 4th Annual Virtual Early Learning Professional Development Day on Friday, February 9th is now open! 2.)   January Monthly Early Learning Professional Development: Nurturing Creativity: Embracing Child-Led Art and Celebrating the Process – Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
In January we will have two opportunities for Monthly Early Learning Professional Development. The second will be presented by Jesi Sucku from ESD 112. It takes place on Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and the focus will be on Embracing Child-Led Art and Celebrating the Process.

Is your goal to encourage children’s creativity through developmentally appropriate art experiences? Join us for a hands-on class that explores the importance of child-led, process art experiences over the standard arts and crafts activities of yesteryear.

3.)   Butterfly Pediatrics Monthly Meeting – Tuesday, January 23rd at 3:15pm
We have been having wonderful monthly sessions with our Partners at Butterfly Pediatrics this year as their experts join us virtually to answer your questions and give resources/ideas about behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations in your classrooms. Our next session is on Tuesday, January 23rd at 3:15pm.

To make the most of our hour with them can you please email me at david.mayer@seattlearch.org  by Monday, January 22nd any behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations you are dealing with that you would like the experts from Butterfly Pediatrics to discuss during the virtual meeting. I will be sending these case studies in advance to the Butterfly team so they can be prepared to give you as much information as possible during our time together. Even if you are not able to join the meeting, you can still submit situations and we will record the conversations and send a recording link. Also, please feel free to also send this information to your Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers as they are now invited to these meetings as well! Thank you!

Join the Session:

4.)   Fulcrum Early Childhood Education Grant will open on Monday, February 5th
I am pleased to share that the annual Fulcrum Early Childhood Education Grant will open on Monday, February 5th. On Friday, February 2nd I will send an individual email to each of you with all of the details, timeline and access information for the grant. I am looking forward to another great year of applications.

5.)   Kaymbu Online Screening and Assessment Tool Recording
Last year we developed a relationship with the Kaymbu platform, through Highscope to give you a potential option for your screening and Assessment needs. The cost for this tool is FREE and will be completely funded for your school by the Early Childhood Education fund started by Dick Abrams. It can be a great way to assess and track students, communicate with parents, use in PLC’s with the kindergarten teacher, prepare for conferences, ect. Last Thursday we hosted a session to learn more about the tool from Kaymbu Representatives. Below you will find a recording of that session as well as a link to get your school connected. If you want to get engaged with the platform this school year please opt in by January 31st. Please let me know if you have any questions.

6.)   Licensed ONLY - Licensing “WAC” of the week – Program and Activities
This week’s focus is on Program and Activities. The WAC highlights program items that supply a variety of materials that satisfy individual, developmental, and cultural needs. It also ensures a sufficient quantity and variety of materials to engage children in the early learning program, such as arts and crafts supplies, various textured materials, construction materials, manipulative materials, music and sound devices, books, and social living equipment. The WAC goes on to highlight what you should look for in materials for the health and safety of the participants.
