1.) Registration for Virtual Early Learning Professional Development Day on Friday, February 9th will open on Tuesday, January 16th
Registration for the 4th Annual Virtual Early Learning Professional Development Day on Friday, February 9th, will open on Tuesday, January 16th. I will send a link for registration directly to each of you when it opens so you can register and share with the rest of your staff teams. There will be three different sessions to choose from throughout the day all focused on Early Learning! Looking forward to a great day of learning!
2.) January Monthly Early Learning Professional Development: Empowering Dual Language Learners – Thursday, January 11th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
In January we will have two opportunities for Monthly Early Learning Professional Development. The first will be presented by Yisbely Torres from ESD 112. It takes place on Thursday, January 11th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and the focus will be Empowering Dual Language Learners.
In this training you will develop an understanding of language acquisition and the benefits of learning more than one language. Additionally, we will review strategies to best support and empower dual language learners in their language development within the context of their culture.
3.) January Monthly Early Learning Professional Development: Nurturing Creativity: Embracing Child-Led Art and Celebrating the Process – Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
In January we will have two opportunities for Monthly Early Learning Professional Development. The second will be presented by Jesi Sucku from ESD 112. It takes place on Tuesday, January 23rd from 6:00pm – 8:00pm and the focus will be on Embracing Child-Led Art and Celebrating the Process.
Is your goal to encourage children’s creativity through developmentally appropriate art experiences? Join us for a hands-on class that explores the importance of child-led, process art experiences over the standard arts and crafts activities of yesteryear.
4.) Kaymbu Online Screening and Assessment Tool Learning Session: Thursday, January 11th at 3:15pm
Last year we developed a relationship with the Kaymbu platform, through Highscope to give you a potential option for your screening and Assessment needs. The cost for this tool is FREE and will be completely funded for your school by the Early Childhood Education fund started by Dick Abrams. It can be a great way to assess and track students, communicate with parents, use in PLC’s with the kindergarten teacher, prepare for conferences, ect. We have multiple schools now using the platform and would like to introduce it to others that are interested. We will be hosting a learning session on Thursday, January 11th at 3:15pm. 5.) Licensed ONLY – Licensed Program Webinar: Environment – Food, Nutrition and Health Practices
During this school year the Licensed Program Webinars are going to focus on different sections of the WAC. My hope is that these short webinars can give you bite size portions of the Early Learning WAC’s material in order to help our programs stay in compliance. This week the focus is on the next 2 sections of the Environment section.
6.) Licensed ONLY - Licensing “WAC” of the week – Parent or guardian handbook and related policies
This week the focus is Parent or guardian handbook and related policies. Each program is required to have a parent or guardian handbook for their Early Learning Program that covers all items in the attached WAC. This serves as a great checklist to confirm you have all the items. Some programs have a separate handbook just for the Early Learning program and others have all of these sections included in the Preschool – 8th Grade handbook for the school. Both of these approaches work as long as all items on the checklist are included. Please read the whole WAC in the link below and let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great week!
